The Buccaneers released quarterback Chris Simms on Saturday and he couldn't be happier, according to New York Times.
He had asked for his release early in the summer and said the team was holding him hostage, after he skipped a minicamp and off-season workouts in protest.
Simms is expected to be picked up quickly.

Bucs Face Decision To Keep Or Shop Clayton
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to have to decide what they want to do with wide receiver Mark Clayton, according to St. Petersburg Times.
"I'm interested in Clayton, too. I don't care who else is," Coach Jon Gruden said Monday. "We're going to keep our best players, and I'll leave it at that. We've had a real competitive camp, and Mike has done some good things. People call all the time about all kinds of things."
A change of scenery could be good for the receiver, who has struggled at times with the Bucs.
"I thought he played well. He showed what a physical perimeter player he is," Gruden continued. "He made a great catch on an inside route for a first down away from his body. The touchdown catch was a hell of a catch. He ran a great route. It was good."
Tampa Bay Hoping To Get Pick For Simms
Tampa Bay is preparing to carry Jeff Garcia, Brian Griese, Luke McCown, and rookie Josh Johnson who has really impressed the Buccaneers with his skills and attitude, as their four quarterbacks.
Chris Simms is the odd man out, and Tampa would love to get a draft pick in return for his services, but the interest around the league has not been there. Any team interested in Simms believes it can get him once he is released.

Favre May Be Considering Bucs
Legendary Packers' quarterback Brett Favre could be heading to the Buccaneers after the decision was made on Tuesday night that he no longer belonged in Green Bay, according to The St. Petersburg Times.
"They don't want me back," Favre said Tuesday after being officially reinstated by the NFL on Sunday night.
"The football team is moving forward. The train has left the station, whatever analogy you want," Coach Mike McCarthy told reporters. "He needs to jump on the train and let's go. Or, if we can't get past things that have happened, I have to keep the train moving."
Bucs' Garcia Suffers Calf Strain
Buccaneers' quarterback Jeff Garcia suffered a calf strain on Thursday, forcing him to leave practice, as reported by Yahoo.com.
?He was dropping back, and he took off like he always does, changed directions and felt a little pull in there,? Coach Jon Gruden said.
Garcia left the field on a golf cart. He is listed as day-to-day.
Gruden said he did not consider the injury to be serious and was not worried about Garcia missing much practice time.
