Cowboys' tight end Jason Witten left the team's win over the Buccaneers on Sunday with a rib injury, but X-rays were negative.
"I took a shot. It doesn't feel good right now, obviously," Witten said after the game. "I'm hoping for the best and hopefully get back to it next week."
Witten was hurt at the end of the first quarter.
Teams trainers looked at him on the sideline before taking him into the locker room. X-rays were negative, and Witten returned to the sideline before the half although he went back into the locker room before the 2-minute warning.
He got back on the field for the team's first play after halftime, lined up as a fullback. He took part in several plays that series but didn't play again after that.
"I tried to doctor it up a little bit at halftime and come out, but just didn't have it in me," Witten said. "I've just got to fight through and hopefully get back to it next week."

Gruden Names Garcia Tampa Bay's Starter
Buccaneers' Coach Jon Gruden has named Jeff Garcia the team's starting quarterback this week against the Seahawks.
"He?s going to start this week," Gruden said of Garcia. "If he continues to play like Jeff Garcia, he?s a Pro Bowl-caliber guy. OK? I?ll put it that way. Brian [Griese] has an injury, we need him back. We?re one of the few teams in football who has won games with two different quarterbacks at this stage of the game, and we?re proud of those guys. We like all our quarterbacks."
Griese was deactivated in Week 6 because of an elbow injury he suffered against the Broncos.
Garcia To Start For Bucs On Sunday?
Quarterback Jeff Garcia could start for the Buccaneers on Sunday against the Panthers as Brian Griese missed practice for the third-straight day on Friday.
"That's the way it looks right now, yes,"
Coach Jon Gruden said when asked if Garcia would start.
Griese, who underwent an MRI that revealed no structural damage to his elbow, was driven into the ground late in the third quarter of Sunday's 16-13 loss to Denver.
Gruden: Decision On QB Will Come Wednesday
Buccaneers' Coach Jon Gruden says that he will make his decision on who will start at quarterback against the Panthers this weekend on Wednesday.
Brian Griese injured his right shoulder and had to leave Sunday's loss to the Broncos. He was replaced by Jeff Garcia, who was benched in favor of Griese after Week One.
"We'll make that decision on Wednesday," Gruden said of whether or not Griese would start.
Tampa Bay's Garcia Replaces Injured Griese
Buccaneers' quarterback Jeff Garcia replaced Brian Griese after he injured his shoulder in the third quarter against the Broncos on Sunday.
Griese was getting ready to throw the ball when Champ Bailey hit him on a blitz. He was replaced by Garcia, whom he had supplanted as starter after the team's season-opener.
Denver edged Tampa Bay, 16-13, for a hard-fought win at Invesco Field.
