Steelers Won't Bench Ben Roethlisberger In 2021

Oct 8, 2021 9:12 AM

Multiple reports indicate that the Pittsburgh Steelers will not bench Ben Roethlisberger at any point during the 2021 season.

Mike Tomlin said earlier this week that Roethlisberger remains the best option for the team at quarterback. The Steelers are 1-3 and Roethlisberger has struggled.

"They are never gonna bench Ben Roethlisberger," Adam Schefter said on ESPN's "Get Up,". "It's never gonna get to that. So he has to figure out a way to play better, make better decisions and elevate this team."

Mike Tomlin: Ben Roethlisberger Still Best Option At QB

Oct 6, 2021 9:15 AM

Mike Tomlin still has confidence in Ben Roethlisberger despite the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive struggles over the first quarter of the season.

"Absolutely," Tomlin said when asked if Roethlisberger was the best quarterback for the offense. "What he does and what he's done makes me really comfortable in saying that."

Through four games, Roethlisberger has a total QBR of 36.3, fifth worst in the NFL. Only rookies Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Davis Mills and Justin Fields trail him.
