Steelers Committed To Keeping Ben Roethlisberger For Entire Career

Oct 31, 2014 8:20 AM

The Pittsburgh Steelers hope to sign Ben Roethlisberger to an extension that will allow him to retire with the franchise.

"We've got to have Ben retire as a Steeler," president Art Rooney II said Wednesday. "There's no doubt about that."

Roethlisberger turns 32 in March and has two seasons remaining on his current eight-year, $108 million deal.

"When both sides are able to come together on an extension. I don't know when that will be, but there's no doubt we look at Ben as somebody who's going to be here for the long term and hopefully five or more years," Rooney said.

Roethlisberger had a strong season, particularly after the Steelers implemented a no-huddle offense. The Steelers finished 6-2 in the second half of their season.

Bill Cowher Unlikely To Return To Coaching In Near Future

Sep 13, 2014 6:09 PM

Bill Cowher isn't ruling out a possible return to the NFL as a head coach, but it isn't expected.

"I've never closed the door," Cowher told "CBS This Morning" on Friday, per Pro Football Talk. "But it's highly unlikely any time in the near future you'll see me coach."

Cowher has been in broadcasting since leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers.
