Former NFL player Bill Romanowski can continue coaching his 12-year-old son's flag football team after scolding another seventh-grader over what the notorious linebacker considered dirty play, the recreation league's director said Wednesday.
Romanowski, who retired in 2004 after a controversial 16-year career that included stints with the 49ers and Raiders, took over his son's recreation-league squad this fall in Piedmont, an upscale enclave in the Oakland hills.

Volek: "Time For Me To Move On"
Billy Volek returned to Nashville on Sunday night, but said it's "time for me to move on."
The Chargers, Chiefs and Raiders are interested in trading for Volek, who requested to be released or traded after the Titans signed Kerry Collins.
Volek is represented by agent Drew Rosenhaus.
"I haven't talked to Drew yet," Volek said Sunday afternoon. "We kind of gave this thing a rest through the week. Now I just have to wait and see. I have to do what is best for my career.
"Tennessee fans have been great for me, and now it is time for me to move on."

Raiders Moving Back To Los Angeles?
The rumor going around Southern California, according to Art Spander, is that Al Davis has sold 15 percent of the team and the franchise will move back down to Los Angeles.

Raiders' LT Gallery Sidelined For Two-To-Three Weeks
It has been a rough start to the season for Robert Gallery.
The starting left tackle of the Raiders suffered a partially torn calf muscle in practice on Wednesday and will be sidelined two to three weeks.
Gallery, 26, made the transition from right tackle to left tackle during training camp, but struggled in the Raiders' 27-0 loss against San Diego last Sunday. Oakland yielded nine sacks and Gallery often was victimized by outside linebacker Shawne Merriman, who recorded three sacks.
Porter Denies Rooting Against Raiders
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Jerry Porter was seen cheering a sack of Aaron Brooks on Monday night.
"The San Francisco Chronicle report was not true," Porter told ESPN's Colleen Dominguez. "I wasn't even paying attention to the game. The fist-pumping was in response to some fans that were talking to me when I was sitting on the sidelines."
Raiders coach Art Shell said he was unaware of the reported incident.
"I havent heard anyone from organization say anything about it," Shell said Tuesday. "If it did happen I am disappointed. He will have to deal with teammates and other people."
Raiders' Porter Inactive For Opener
Jerry Porter, the Oakland Raiders' leading receiver last season, was inactive for the season opener Monday night against the San Diego Chargers.
Porter's role on the team has greatly diminished after he clashed with new coach Art Shell in the offseason over his offseason workout plans. Porter demanded a trade at the start of training camp, but the Raiders have declined to grant his wish.
Raiders' Moss Has Spoken: 'It's Crazy Around Here'
The NFL season can now begin. Randy Moss has spoken.
In an interview with Fox Sports radio on Saturday, the Raiders receiver offered some criticisms of the atmosphere surrounding the organization but said he's willing to go along with the program.
"It's crazy around here, man," Moss said. "It's something that we're trying to hold on to, and, hopefully, Coach Art [Shell] can move us in the right direction, so I'm just trying to stay away from all of that stuff this year, like I did last year and, hopefully, we can win some games."
Moss appeared unhappy with decisions on the receiving corps, specifically the trade of Doug Gabriel to the Patriots.
