L.A. Releases Plans To Upgrade Coliseum In Attempt To Lure Team

Jun 6, 2014 3:55 PM

City officials are ready to pitch their plans to the NFL for an $800 million upgrade of the aging Los Angeles Coliseum in hopes of luring a professional football team back to town. The 67,000-seat reconstruction would include 15,000 club seats, 500 luxury boxes and state-of-the-art amenities. It would be constructed within the shell of the existing Coliseum, which hosted the 1932 and 1984 Olympics. The Coliseum is used by the University of Southern California football team, but it hasn't hosted a professional team since the Raiders in 1994. They returned to Oakland the next year.

Young And Leinart To Meet With The Raiders

Sep 19, 2014 3:37 PM

Quarterbacks Vince Young and Matt Leinart and defensive back Michael Huff are scheduled to meet with Raiders officials this week. Young and Huff are due in today, Leinart on Thursday, according to their agents. Oakland has the No. 7 draft pick in the first round. It's believed that Leinart, and perhaps Young and fellow quarterback Jay Cutler, will be selected before the Raiders are on the clock. Therefore, the Raiders are exploring the possibility of trading up as high as No. 2, a person in the front office said. By doing so, the Raiders likely would be in position to choose from among the aforementioned quarterbacks. USC running back Reggie Bush is expected to be taken first overall by the Houston Texans.
