Justin Fields Not Expected To Play At Jets

Nov 27, 2022 2:01 AM

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, who is dealing with a separated left shoulder with partially torn ligaments, is not expected to play Sunday at the New York Jets, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Bears are expected to start Trevor Siemian at quarterback, and the team also promoted Nathan Peterman from the practice squad Saturday to serve as the backup at that position.

Nov 23, 2022 8:49 PM

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields said Wednesday that he is dealing with an injury to the acromioclavicular joint in his left shoulder and will evaluate how he feels later this week before determining whether he'll play against the New York Jets.

"It's a separated shoulder with partially torn ligaments," Fields said, describing his injury. "Basically, like an AC joint. That's my understanding of it."

QB Zach Wilson Apologizes To Jets For Postgame Comments

Nov 23, 2022 8:46 PM

On the day he lost his starting job in a dramatic quarterback shake-up, Zach Wilson tried to win back his New York Jets teammates with an apology.

Under heavy criticism from fans and media, Wilson spoke to the entire team on Wednesday, admitting he botched Sunday's postgame news conference -- the one in which he refused to take accountability for his poor performance in a loss to the New England Patriots.

Robert Saleh Won't Commit To Zach Wilson At Quarterback

Nov 22, 2022 8:42 AM

Robert Saleh appears to be wavering in his commitment to Zach Wilson.

Three weeks after saying Wilson would be the starting quarterback for the New York Jets for the remainder of the season, Saleh was noncommittal Monday on whether he would start on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

"We're keeping everything on the table over the next couple of days," Saleh said.

Asked if he's prepared to name Wilson as this week's starter, he said, "Not right now, not until I'm done evaluating everything."

Wilson is 5-2 as the starter, but he played poorly in two of the past three games -- both losses to the New England Patriots.

MetLife Stadium Replacing Field In 2023, But Not To Grass

Nov 18, 2022 8:11 AM

MetLife Stadium is in the process of reviewing proposals to replace the current FieldTurf that has come under fire in recent years.

The stadium is the home of the New York Giants and Jets.

Metlife, which currently is using a version of FieldTurf, is contemplating new synthetic surfaces, not the natural grass that players have publicly called for in recent weeks.

"We evaluate our field each season and historically have replaced our playing surface every 3-4 years. We have made the decision to replace the field in 2023 and are currently reviewing proposals from multiple vendors for a new synthetic surface," MetLife Stadium said in a statement.

Robert Saleh: Zach Wilson Still 'Our Quarterback'

Nov 1, 2022 8:45 AM

The New York Jets aren't considering a change at quarterback.

Robert Saleh issued a strong vote of confidence for Zach Wilson despite three interceptions in Sunday's 22-17 loss to the New England Patriots.

"Correct," said Saleh, when asked if he would stick with Wilson. "He's our quarterback."

Wilson was drafted second overall in 2021. He's 24th out of 31 qualified passers in Total QBR (41.8) this season.

"Nobody had us at five wins at this point to start the season, and Zach is a big part of that," Saleh said.
