Vikings Acquire Joshua Dobbs From Cardinals

Oct 31, 2023 2:20 PM

The Minnesota Vikings have acquired Joshua Cobbs from the Arizona Cardinals for a sixth round pick. Arizona also sent a conditional seventh-round pick that can become a sixth-rounder based on Dobbs' play time.

Minnesota needed a quarterback after losing Kirk Cousins on Sunday to a torn Achilles.

Dobbs has started the Cardinals' first eight games and has thrown for 1,569 yards with eight touchdowns and five interceptions. The Cardinals are 1-7 this season.

Kirk Cousins Tears Right Achilles In Vikings' Win

Oct 29, 2023 7:27 PM

The Minnesota Vikings are bracing for confirmation of a season-ending right Achilles tear for quarterback Kirk Cousins, an injury that will have cascading impact on the short- and long-term future of the organization.

Speaking after the Vikings' 24-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers, an otherwise rousing win that pulled their record even at 4-4 after an 0-3 start, coach Kevin O'Connell said the team was "fearing" an Achilles injury. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Cousins tore the Achilles, an outcome the team said it would not confirm until putting him through additional testing.

All Signs Point To Christian McCaffrey Playing MNF

Oct 22, 2023 12:11 PM

All signs point to San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey playing Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

McCaffrey officially is listed as questionable for the game after suffering an oblique injury during last Sunday's loss to the Cleveland Browns. The two-time Pro Bowler returned to practice as a limited participant Saturday after missing the two previous workouts and said afterward that he felt "great."

Deebo Samuel Ruled Out With Hairline Shoulder Fracture

Oct 21, 2023 7:33 PM

After a week of waiting and wondering which of their three injured stars would be available for Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan offered a mixed bag of outcomes on Saturday afternoon.

The worst news first: Niners receiver Deebo Samuel has a hairline fracture in his shoulder and has been ruled out for "Monday Night Football." Shanahan said that Samuel will miss at least the next two weeks leading into San Francisco's Week 9 bye.

Kirk Cousins Expected To Remain With Vikings This Season

Oct 15, 2023 12:28 AM

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is expected to remain in Minnesota this season and will not look to waive the no-trade clause in his contract, league sources told ESPN.

No quarterback has been mentioned in speculative trades this season more than Cousins, who was linked to the Jets almost from the moment that Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending torn Achilles.

But short of a contending team with a familiar offense losing its starting quarterback before the NFL's Oct. 31 trade deadline, Cousins is expected to finish the season with the Vikings.

Kirk Cousins Ignoring Trade Talk: 'Not Worth My Time'

Oct 12, 2023 9:27 AM

Kirk Cousins didn't provide much of a response when asked about the possibility that the Minnesota Vikings could trade him prior to the Oct. 31 trade deadline.

"You know, I am just very focused on the [Chicago] Bears and going 1-0 this week," Cousins said. "And anything else is not worth my time or energy or attention."

Cousins also declined to address the chances he would waive his no-trade clause to facilitate a deal.

The quarterback's contract is set to void next March, after the deadline for declaring franchise tags, meaning he has a guaranteed path to the free agent market if he wants it.

Vikings To Place Justin Jefferson On IR

Oct 10, 2023 8:27 AM

The Minnesota Vikings plan to place Justin Jefferson on injured reserve because of a hamstring injury suffered on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to sources.

Jefferson will miss at least four games. He left Sunday's game early in the fourth quarter and did not return.

Kevin O'Connell said Monday that Jefferson would seek multiple medical opinions on his injured hamstring.

Vikings Unsure Of Justin Jefferson's Status Following Injury

Oct 9, 2023 8:18 AM

Justin Jefferson left the Minnesota Vikings' loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon with a right hamstring injury.

Kevin O'Connell said that it's "still very early" to project a timetable for Jefferson's recovery -- or if he'd miss any time at all -- but a hamstring injury for a wide receiver can be problematic.

"We'll get him back as soon as we possibly can," O'Connell said. "There won't be a better teammate in that locker room during the time [he is out]. Hopefully we have him right back this week."

Jefferson, who declined comment, hasn't missed a game since the Vikings drafted him in 2020.

Since joining the starting lineup in Week 3 of his rookie season, Jefferson has made 53 consecutive starts while playing 92% of the Vikings' offensive snaps.

Vikings CB Plans To Taunt Travis Kelce About Taylor Swift Relationship

Oct 3, 2023 8:47 AM

Taylor Swift has attended the last two Kansas City Chiefs games in support of tight end Travis Kelce.

The Minnesota Vikings will host the Chiefs at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday and it remains to be seen if Swift will be in attendance.

That would be "cool," Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy, Jr. said.

"Oh man, the social media is going crazy," Murphy said when asked about the league's embrace of the Swift-Kelce storyline. "And I'm not hating against it. That's the world we're living in. Is she going to come to this game? We're locked in, but that would be something. I've been watching her since I was a kid. That would be cool, for sure.

"Not for him, because we're going to try to get our hands on him in front of her."

Added Murphy, who said he has never been to one of Swift's concerts: "I'm going to say something to him to get him going."
