Rams Fall To 0-8, Lose Jackson Again

Aug 29, 2014 1:43 AM

The Cleveland Browns won for the first time on the road. The St. Louis Rams still haven't won at all. Derek Anderson threw three touchdown passes, two to Braylon Edwards, and the Browns erased an early 14-point deficit in a 27-20 victory over the winless and injury-riddled St. Louis Rams on Sunday. The long-struggling Browns (4-3) matched their win total from last season and have won consecutive games for the first time since Weeks 5 and 6 of the 2003 season, 64 games ago. Steven Jackson's return from a groin injury briefly energized the Rams (0-8), who scored on their first two possessions, but he left again due to lower back tightness in the second quarter.

Steven Jackson Vows To Return This Weekend

Aug 29, 2014 1:56 AM

The struggling Rams could get a boost from the return of Steven Jackson after the running back practiced Wednesday. Coach Scott Linehan said that unless he suffers a setback during the week, Jackson will be on the field when the winless Rams host Cleveland (3-3) on Sunday. Jackson expects to be back without limitations after missing four games with a partially torn groin. "The groin is something, it feels good one day and the next day you may have a little tweak to it," Jackson said. "As long as things are going good I want to stay out there."

Rams Cut Terrell After Assault Charge

Aug 7, 2014 12:17 AM

The St. Louis Rams released offensive guard Claude Terrell after he was arrested early Tuesday and charged with assaulting his wife at a suburban Houston hotel. The Rams announced Terrell's release in a news release. A spokesman declined to comment further. Police in the Houston suburb of Webster said they found a woman with "obvious signs of physical injury" after responding to a disturbance at a Hampton Inn. The woman said she was Terrell's wife and told police he had assaulted her. The 6-foot-2, 330-pound Terrell was found at a nearby hotel where he was arrested and charged with assault-family violence, a class A misdemeanor, police said. Terrell has appeared in six games with three starts for the Rams (0-7) this season.

Rams' Jackson Returns To Practice Field

Oct 22, 2014 9:40 PM

Realistically, Steven Jackson is at least a week away from returning to the Rams' lineup. But the Pro Bowl running back took his first steps back to the playing field Wednesday in practice. Wearing the red "no-contact" jersey, Jackson took part in some individual drills ? running, cutting and catching passes. It was far from a full practice, but the mere sight of No. 39 was a boost for his teammates. "You could tell that it was his first day back," tight end Randy McMichael said. "He didn't want to really try to push too much, aggravate it or something. But it was good to see him out there. You know, see him smiling and laughing, and seeing those 'dreads' flop at you on the run."

Bulger Plans To Return From Broken Ribs

May 18, 2014 10:54 AM

Watching the winless St. Louis Rams lose two more games while he nursed two broken ribs was long enough on the sidelines for Marc Bulger. It'll be months before those injuries heal, but his beat-up team needs him. Bulger said Monday he plans to return to the lineup this week, and coach Scott Linehan said the quarterback would be cleared to play at Seattle. "Yeah, I'm playing," Bulger said. "I'm ready now after standing around for two weeks. They definitely feel a little better, but I haven't been hit."

Rams Sticking With Frerotte; Bulger Eyeing Oct. 21 Return

Oct 22, 2014 9:47 PM

Despite throwing three interceptions last Sunday in his first starting assignment since 2005, quarterback Gus Frerotte will remain in the starting lineup when the St. Louis Rams face the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Rams' coach Scott Linehan said after practice on Wednesday that starter Marc Bulger needs at least one more week of rest as he continues to recover from two cracked ribs that affected his performance in the first four games of the season. Bulger has demonstrated improvement during practice the past week, but the earliest he will return to the lineup is in an Oct. 21 game at Seattle. "It's really another week before he probably feels the way he needs to feel to go in and play," Linehan told local reporters when asked about Bulger's status. "I know he feels better this week than he did last week. I think another week might be enough to consider having him ready for the next game."

Winless Rams Will Evaluate Linehan At Season's End

Oct 22, 2014 9:47 PM

The St. Louis Rams, winless and riddled with injuries, will wait until the end of the season to decide if coach Scott Linehan will return in 2008, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Tuesday. "I can say that it's not even a subject of conversation today," team president John Shaw said, according to the Post-Dispatch. "Nor will it be until the season's over. There's still 11 games left in the season. He's our coach. We'll look at where everything is after the season." Linehan is 8-13 in two seasons as head coach in St. Louis. He went 8-8 last season, his first in the NFL.

He played the first two games of this season and appeared in 44 games with Arizona, before being released last month. Leckey made 11 starts last season. The Rams cleared roster space by releasing defensive tackle Louis Leonard.
