Colts Want To Sign Quenton Nelson To Extension
Chris Ballard is making it clear that the Indianapolis Colts want to sign left guard Quenton Nelson to a long-term contract extension.
Nelson had his fifth-year option exercised before the season, so he's under contract with the Colts for one more year.
"Quenton's a Colt," Ballard said. "We want him to be a Colt long-term. When we do the contract, we'll work through that."
Ballard also said that Nelson would remain at guard despite speculation that he could move to tackle.
Frank Reich Won't Commit To Carson Wentz In 2022
In the aftermath of the Indianapolis Colts' collapse against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Frank Reich declined to commit to Carson Wentz as the team's starting quarterback in 2022.
When asked if Wentz will be the starting quarterback next season, Reich wouldn't answer.
"We loved the team we had this year, we knew everyone we brought in this year, we expected to play winning football," Reich said. "Next year's roster will be next year's roster. I don't want to open it up about one player and then start talking about all of them."
That's a very different answer than Reich gave a year ago, when he was asked whether the Colts wanted to keep Philip Rivers.
“As I sit here right now, yes, I want Philip Rivers to be my starting quarterback next year,” Reich said at the time.
