Andrew Luck Sits OTA With Calf Strain

May 21, 2019 4:57 PM

Andrew Luck sat out the Indianapolis Colts' first OTA practice with a calf strain.

Frank Reich told reporters after the session that Luck suffered the injury while training with the team.

“Just a little tweak; little strain,” Reich said of Luck’s calf. “So my whole mode — and our whole mode — is going to be during this session just to be real conservative with anybody who has any issue whatsoever.

“Where we’re at right now is we’ll just say, ‘Hey, play conservative this week. Nothing this week, and then we’ll re-evaluate it after this week and see where he is.’”

Colts Sign Chad Kelly

May 20, 2019 2:47 PM

The Indianapolis Colt have signed quarterback Chad Kelly.

Kelly has a history of off-the field issues.

Kelly was kicked off Clemson's football team for arguing with coaches during the spring game in 2014. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct after he was arrested for a bar fight in 2014. Kelly was in another fight at his brother's high school football game in New York in October 2016. Videos showed Kelly being held back by the coaches.

Kelly was released by the Denver Broncos in 2018 after being arrested for criminal trespassing.

Kelly is the nephew of Jim Kelly.

Colts Have Shrunk Draft Board Under Chris Ballard

May 20, 2019 4:49 PM

The Indianapolis Colts didn't consult a huge draft board this year, despite having six of the first 135 picks last month.

Chris Ballard says the team has steadily shrunk the size of their draft board over the course of his tenure.

"I'd say this year we had 170 players on the board which is way down from where it was before," he said. "I think last year we were at 220, I can't even remember the number from my first year. But yeah, it makes it easier to navigate when you have fewer names that you know fit what you want. I think when we really get it right, and we get it down to about 125, 150, that's when we'll have really honed down exactly what a Colt is for our schemes. And not only from a player perspective, how he's going to fit on the team, but also from a character perspective."

Eric Ebron Wants To Set Tight End Touchdown Record

May 8, 2019 8:22 AM

Eric Ebron, who scored a career-high 13 touchdowns last season, wants to break the record for touchdowns by a tight end.

"I believe Gronk still holds the record for most touchdowns, which is 17. So, if I want to do anything that is gonna be real spectacular or really good, I gotta go get 17," Ebron said. "And if I go and get 17, I help my team win games. I did that, proved that and I feel like if I'm at my best, then I feel like this team will be at their best."

Ebron is set to make $7 million in 2019, the final year of his two-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts.
