Competition Committee Won't Create 'Calvin Johnson Rule'

Oct 31, 2014 8:39 AM

The NFL's competition committee will not establish a "Calvin Johnson rule," according to a league source. The committee will not change an offensive rule, which states that a player must maintain possession of the ball throughout a catch. The rule came under fire in Week 1 of the 2010 season when Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson's apparent game-winning touchdown catch against the Bears was overturned when he lost control of the ball after seemingly making a leaping catch and falling to the ground.
