Jurevicius Might Not Be Ready For Season

Oct 1, 2014 3:36 AM

Browns' wide receiver Joe Jurevicius may not be ready for the start of the 2008 season, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer. He has had multiple surgeries on his knee this offseason and is still in the middle of the rehabilitation process. A source close to the team said that it's way too early to determine whether or not he'll be ready. "Joe is here every day," said Coach Romeo Crennel. "He's rehabbing, he works in the pool, he works on the machines, and he's making improvement. When he's able to get on the field, we'll put him on the field."

Two Years Later, Bentley To Rejoin Browns

Oct 1, 2014 3:36 AM

Cleveland announced on Tuesday that former Pro Bowl center LeCharles Bentley has passed his physical and will rejoin the team, according to ESPN.com. Two major surgeries have kept him off the field in the past two seasons. "He's made a lot of progress," Browns' General Manager Phil Savage said. "He wants to give it a go. We're willing to do that, and we want to do that for him." He tore the patellar tendon in his left knee during training camp in 2006, and suffered a staph infection that required yet another surgery shortly after.

Browns In No Rush To Extend Winslow

Oct 1, 2014 3:36 AM

The Browns are in no rush to extend the current contract of tight end Kellen Winslow, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer. "We don't have a lot of wiggle room right now at this particular time," Browns' General Manager Phil Savage said Tuesday night. "Only time will tell if it goes one direction or the other, but I think we've let it be known kind of where we are." The team expects Winslow to show up for minicamp next week. "Of course, it's a mandatory camp, so the expectation is he'll be here," Savage said. Winslow's deal has three years remaining at $4 million to $5 million per season. The reference point for Winslow's camp is believed to be the 6-year, $42 million deal signed recently by tight end Dallas Clark.

Rumors of cornerback Ty Law signing a deal with the Cleveland Browns will simply not go away, according to The Dayton Daily News. The Browns have added a few defensive pieces recently but are still in need of a starting-caliber cornerback. Rumors around the league claim that Law is asking for a little too much in terms of money, and the Browns might be willing to add him to their roster if he lowers his price.
