Source: Browns' Jurevicius Will Miss Season
An NFL source claims that Browns' receiver Joe Jurevicius will be out for the remainder of the 2008 season.
Browns' Coach Romeo Crennel said Wednesday that the team is preparing to make an announcement on Jurevicius and hinted that the news was "generally not good."
Cleveland has until Tuesday to take Jurevicius off the physically-unable-to-perform list or deactivate him for the season. He had knee surgery in the offseason but contracted a staph infection in the process of his rehabilitation.
"It's 99 percent sure that he is done for the season," the source said.
Winslow Returns, Is 'Ready To Move On'
Tight end Kellen Winslow returned to the Cleveland Browns on Monday night eager to "move on" and restart his disrupted season.
"I'm ready to move on and just play football," he said.
Winslow and the Browns appear to have made a truce, following a one-game suspension and in-fighting with GM Phil Savage regarding the tight end's staph infection.
The Browns are 2-0 with Winslow in the lineup.
"They knew where I was coming from, and I understood where they were coming from, so it is all worked out," he said. "I am just excited to get back to playing football, doing what I love to do. I just really see this as a challenge, so I am going to meet it."
Winslow's Suspension Gets Lifted
Kellen Winslow's suspension has been rescinded by the Browns after club officials received copies of text messages from a Browns PR rep telling Winslow not to reveal that he had a staph infection, a source close to the situation told The Plain Dealer.
The tight end will still be fined $25,000 for comments about the Browns not protecting its players enough from staph, but he will not forfeit the $235,294 game check for sitting out today's game in Jacksonville.
Winslow will still not play today in Jacksonville.
Browns Accuse Winslow Of Verbally Abusing PR Official
The Browns have accused tight end Kellen Winslow of verbally abusing a public relations official after their loss to the Redskins last Sunday.
While Winslow was sitting at his locker last Sunday preparing to be interviewed, he asked director of communications Amy Palcic to leave so he could speak to a reporter.
The exchange reportedly went like this:
Winslow: "Amy, I'm good. Can you please stop playing big sis and leave? Seeing what I'm going to say and sh--?"
Palcic, who was standing a few feet away, remained where she was.
Winslow: "Um, Amy, can you please leave?"
Palcic: "Talk if you want to talk."
Winslow: "What?"
Palcic: "Talk. I'm not going to cut you off."
Palcic declined to comment Friday, but Browns spokesman Bill Bonsiewicz said, "Yes, I was made aware of another exchange, but due to the fact there's a pending grievance, I'd prefer not to comment beyond that."
GM On Winslow: Browns Bigger Than One Person
Browns' General Manager Phil Savage defended his position to suspend tight end Kellen Winslow, who wasn't happy with how the team handled his recent staph infection.
"The Browns are bigger than one person, bigger than [owner] Randy Lerner, bigger than [coach] Romeo Crennel, bigger than me and bigger than any player on this team," Savage said during a radio appearance. "We couldn't and won't allow one person to tear down the organization, so we had to do something."
Winslow appealed his suspension on Wednesday. His case will be heard by an arbitrator on Tuesday in Cleveland.

Winslow Could Face Punishment From Browns
Kellen Winslow could face punishment from the Browns after expressing his disappointment in GM Phil Savage for how he handled the tight end's staph infection.
"Sometimes the emotions of the game and the emotions of your personal situation kind of overflow," Coach Romeo Crennel said. "So I think he probably said some things that he didn't need to talk about to the media."
Winslow Admits He Had Staph Infection
Browns' tight end Kellen Winslow has admitted that his mysterious illness was a staph infection, and is upset with the way general manager Phil Savage handled the situation.
Winslow feels as though he was treated like a "piece of meat" and was disappointed that Savage didn't call him while he was in the Cleveland Clinic last week.
"There's obviously a problem [with staph], and we have to fix it," said Winslow. "Just look at the history around here. It's unfortunate, because it happens time and time again."
It was the second staph infection suffered by Winslow since 2005 and the sixth by a key player in Cleveland since that year.
"A big reason I'm upset right now has to do with [the staph infection]," said Winslow. "I heard from Romeo Crennel, and I heard from my position coach [Alfredo Roberts] when I was in the Clinic. I heard from my teammates. But I never heard from the main man -- Phil Savage -- and that really disappoints me. Sometimes I don't even feel a part of this team.
"I feel I've done a lot for this team, played through a lot of pain, and given it my all. I just thought there'd be a little more how are you doing?' by him."
