Savage: No Thought Of Changing QBs, Coach

Nov 1, 2014 11:00 AM

Browns' GM Phil Savage denied the team seriously considered a switch to backup Brady Quinn, which seemed to contradict Romeo Crennel and executive adviser Jim Brown, the latter on a national radio show. "I've talked to people around the league, people who have been in this business for a long time, and you don't go blowing things up after a couple games," Savage said. "You're not going to be successful in this league doing that." "It's not been any thought of changing quarterbacks, changing the coach, or any of that. That's not the thing to do at this juncture of the season. You've got to give the people a chance to pull themselves out of the situation. We all put ourselves in this spot and we're the ones who have got to pull us out of it."

Browns Sticking With Anderson This Week

May 18, 2014 2:47 AM

Derek Anderson, who has been ineffective during the Browns' three-game losing streak, will start Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Coach Romeo Crennel considered benching Anderson for popular second-year backup Brady Quinn, who has played in only one game as a pro. Crennel refused to give reasons for sticking with Anderson. "I'm not getting into the what ifs, the whens, the wheres, how long or anything like that about this decision," Crennel said. "The decision is made and that's what it's going to be."

Derek Anderson: 'I Can Play Better'

Nov 1, 2014 11:01 AM

Browns' quarterback Derek Anderson is aware that he's on a short leash and knows that he can play better, according to Associated Press. "I can play better. I know that," Anderson said Tuesday. "It's been frustrating because I've put a lot into it, and it's not gone perfect. I'm not making excuses, but it hasn't been what we've all expected it to be. You watch film, and it's a few things here and there: a missed throw, a dropped pass." "It's never going to be perfect, but we thought we would have won at least one or two games so far. I understand it, and I'm just going to continue to keep working, knowing that we're still in this and we just have to find a way to get going." Anderson has just 365 yards, two touchdowns, and five interceptions through the season's first three games. Cleveland is 0-3.

Nov 1, 2014 11:05 AM

Derek Anderson has struggled during the first two of the 2008 season, leading reporters to ask Coach Romeo Crennel if the rest of the NFL has caught up with his quarterback. "If you look at the results, you can say that they have, but I think if all the weapons were healthy and out there that we'd pose some problems with opposing defenses," said Crennel. Speeding Ticket Catches Up To Braylon

Jul 28, 2014 2:19 AM

A speeding ticket, which Browns' receiver Braylon Edwards initially avoided, has caught up to him, according to Associated Press. Edwards was stopped on Aug. 29 in Avon, Ohio, after police said he was driving 120 mph in his Bentley, but the officer let him slide without a ticket. The receiver has since been served with the ticket, and the officer, whose name wasn't released, has been counseled about handling traffic stops. "The officer let me off for good behavior," Edward said Friday. "Because of Channel 19 [WOIO], it got brought back up, got resurfaced and there it was. I got a ticket. But I'm not the first person to get a speeding ticket."
