Patrick Mahomes Takes Blame For Loss To Bengals

Jan 30, 2022 8:42 PM

Patrick Mahomes is taking the blame for the Kansas City Chiefs' loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game.

The Chiefs led 21-3 before the Bengals stormed back to win 27-24 in overtime.

Mahomes was 18-of-21 for 220 yards and three touchdowns in the first half, but he stumbled thereafter. He was just 8-of-18 for 55 yards and two interceptions while being sacked four times in the second half and overtime.

"They just had a spy on me, for the most part, and I've usually done a good job getting around that guy, but they had a good game plan," Mahomes said.

"They were doing a lot of similar stuff in the first half, we were just executing at a higher level. They stayed with it. But I mean, I gotta be better. I mean when you’re up 21-3 at one point in the game, you can’t lose it, and I put that on myself."

Bengals Headed To First Super Bowl In 33 Years

The Cincinnati Bengals stormed back against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon, winning the AFC Championship Game and punching their ticket to the Super Bowl.

The Bengals won 27-24 in overtime to earn their first trip to the Super Bowl in 33 years. Cincinnati trailed 21-3 at one point.

The comeback is tied for the largest ever in a title game during the Super Bowl era. The 2006 Indianapolis Colts also rallied from 18 down to win the AFC title against the New England Patriots.

Ja'Marr Chase: 'Les Miles Told Me I Couldn't Play Receiver'

Jan 27, 2022 9:05 AM

Ja'Marr Chase once received significant motivation from former LSU coach Les Miles.

Ahead of the AFC Championship Game against the favored Kansas City Chiefs, the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver was asked how he approaches someone telling him he can't do something.

"I could tell you, honestly, one of my best stories ever: Les Miles told me I couldn't play receiver when I was coming out of high school," Chase said. "That was something I had on my shoulders growing up. Les Miles told me he thought I could play cornerback, I wasn't really in full position at receiver yet. So I just kept working on my craft, offseason waking up early in the mornings to work out. I just kept focused."

LSU fired Miles in 2016. Ed Orgeron took over and had zero issues at that point with Chase as a receiver when he enrolled in 2018.

Chiefs, Rams Open As Favorites In Conference Championship Games

Jan 25, 2022 7:59 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs opened as 6.5-point favorites over the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship while that line quickly moved to -7 at most sports books.

In the NFC Championship Game, the Los Angeles Rams opened as 3.5-point favorites.

The Chiefs were the only favorite to win in the divisional round.

The Bills nearly made it four outright upsets, something that has never happened in the divisional round during the Super Bowl era.

Derrick Henry Expected To Start Against Bengals

Jan 21, 2022 12:21 PM

The Tennessee Titans plan to activate Derrick Henry for Saturday's playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to a source.

Henry is expected to start for the Titans as he comes back from injury.

The Titans designated Henry for return to practice from injured reserve on Jan 5. The designation opened a 21-day window for Henry to be added to the 53-man active roster.

Henry was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 1 because of a fractured foot he suffered in the team's 34-31 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8.

Titans Hoping To Limit Ticket Sales To Bengals Fans

Jan 21, 2022 8:57 AM

The Tennessee Titans are doing their best to make sure Nissan Stadium isn't full of Cincinnati Bengals fans this weekend.

In an interview with New Channel 5 in Nashville, the team's vice president of ticketing, Brooke Ellenberger, admitted that the Titans had implemented a new ticket policy this week in hopes of limiting the number of Bengals fans at the game.

"We want Nissan Stadium to be two-tone blue," Ellenberger said. "And so by limiting this transfer window, it also limits the number of visiting team fans that we'll have in the stadium."

Under the adjusted policy, tickets can't be transferred to anyone who purchases them until 24 hours before the game.
