NFL's 32 Teams Collectively Worth $99 Billion

Aug 26, 2020 1:29 PM

The average NFL franchise is worth more than $3 billion, according to data compiled by Sportico.

The Dallas Cowboys rank first in the NFL at $6.43 billion with the Cincinnati Bengals ranking last at $2.12 billion.

The fair-market value of the NFL's 32 franchises collectively is $99 billion when considering team-related businesses and real estate held by owners.

The teams’ $15.83 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year, which represents the 2019 season, was greater than that of 298 companies on the Fortune 500. That averages to about $495 million per team.

In 2019, the Cowboys generated an estimated $871 million in revenue, which was 81% greater than the average of the other 31 teams.

Bears To Keep Two Kickers As COVID-19 Insurance

Aug 26, 2020 9:35 AM

The Chicago Bears want to keep two kickers all season as insurance against a COVID-19 outbreak.

The Bears signed Cairo Santos this week for temporary help for the injured Eddy Pineiro.

"Cairo is here because of the plan that we had all along, which is to have a backup kicker," Matt Nagy said. "And then if something does happen to Eddy, we feel very good with Cairo. That's the 'why' part."

David Montgomery Has Slimmed Down In Hopes Of Boosting Production

Aug 24, 2020 9:34 AM

David Montgomery has slimmed down since the end of his rookie season by changing his diet.

Montgomery had the second-most rushing yards of any rookie last season, but also averaged the second-fewest yards per carry of any back with more than 200 attempts.

"I was a lot slower than I know I was capable of moving at and it affected the game,” Montgomery said. "I kind of let myself get in the way of myself as far as what I ate last year. I didn’t really care. I was a rookie. I was just eating whatever, but now it’s definitely a main focal point in my everyday life. It’s just being sure I put the right things in my body so it can carry over to the field."

Matt Nagy: Need More Time To Evaluate Mitchell Trubisky

Aug 19, 2020 4:08 PM

Matt Nagy says he needs more time to evaluate whether Mitchell Trubisky has become a better quarterback over the offseason.

The Chicago Bears drafted Trubisky with the second overall pick in 2017.

"We don't have enough right now," Nagy said. "I wish I could tell you we had enough. But there's just not enough with where we're at. We need to see more. I can't give you a fair statement or opinion with that.

"I'm excited to see some more team periods. Maybe a little more red zone, some two-minute, four-minute, situational football to truly say that. I'd ask for a little bit more time on that with him. But again, the mental side of it, decision-making, where he's going -- so far, so good. But we want to now continue to just see that get better and better to where we have 100 percent accuracy with that -- with both quarterbacks. They're both competing the right way. But I would say, realistically, we just need a little bit more time to be able to compare it to the last two years."

The Bears signed Nick Foles to compete with Trubisky for the starting job in camp.
