Bears To Keep Jay Cutler As Starting QB In 2015

Mar 10, 2015 5:19 PM

The Chicago Bears will start Jay Cutler at quarterback in 2015.

One source was adamant that there was "absolutely zero truth" to recent reports that Cutler was being actively shopped for a potential trade.

John Fox and general manager Ryan Pace have been publicly noncommittal about Cutler's status with the team in limited media access since they joined the organization in February.

Under terms of Cutler's contract, he is scheduled to make $15.5 million in 2015 with an additional $10 million guaranteed for injury in 2016 if he is on the roster as of Thursday at 4 p.m. ET.

49ers Deny Reports Of Putting Colin Kaepernick On Trade Block

Mar 9, 2015 12:13 PM

Trent Baalke has denied reports that Colin Kaepernick has been put by the San Francisco 49ers on the trading block.

"Colin is our quarterback and we are excited to have him," Baalke said in his statement. "He is not going anywhere. The media reports suggesting otherwise are without merit, and quite frankly, ridiculous."

Jayson Braddock of KBME in Houston first reported Kaepernick was on the block, intimating the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears were among teams interested in the quarterback.

Kaepernick was widely thought of as Jim Harbaugh's quarterback.

Bears Pursuing Trade Of Brandon Marshall

Mar 6, 2015 10:47 AM

The Chicago Bears are pursuing a trade of Brandon Marshall.

The key date to keep in mind with Marshall is Thursday, March 12. That is when his base salary of $7.5 million for 2015 becomes fully guaranteed.

The Bears sent two third round picks to the Miami Dolphins in 2012 to acquire Marshall. Chicago is likely looking for a mid-round pick in exchange for Marshall.

Marshall caught 61 balls for 721 yards and eight touchdowns in 2014.

Alshon Jeffery would become the No. 1 wide receiver for the Bears, who has a similar skill-set as Marshall.
