Bengals Sign Cedric Benson

The Bengals signed free agent RB Cedric Benson and placed RB DeDe Dorsey on the reserve/injured list, the team announced Tuesday. Dorsey, a third-year player from Lindenwood College, played in this season?s first four games but suffered a hamstring injury last weekend against Cleveland.

Chargers Sign Veteran DT Ian Scott

The Chargers made a move Tuesday to bolster their interior defensive line when they signed veteran defensive tackle Ian Scott. A six-year NFL veteran, Scott, 6-3, 302, was drafted in the fourth-round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears where he spent three seasons with Chargers inside linebackers coach Ron Rivera, who was Chicago?s defensive coordinator at the time. Scott?s best season came in 2004 when he started 13 games and recorded career highs in tackles (77) and sacks (2). Prior to the 2007 season, Scott signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an unrestricted free agent but suffered a knee injury in training camp that caused him to land on ?Reserve-Injured? for the season. Scott joined the Carolina Panthers last April but was released prior to the start of the regular season.

Colts Sign Rookie Safety Jamie Silva

The Colts have signed rookie safety Jamie Silva in hopes of adding depth to their secondary, according to Indianapolis Star. The Colts moved Silva to the active roster from the practice squad in preparation for Sunday's game with the Jaguars. Silva's addition was necessary since starting safety Bob Sanders is out with an ankle injury, and backup Matt Giordano missed two days of practice with back spasms.

Saints Sign Harrington To Be Third QB

The Saints have signed six-year veteran Joey Harrington to be their third quarterback behind Drew Brees and Mark Brunell, according to Associated Press. Harrington signed with the Saints and participated in his first practice Friday at the team's suburban training center. He appeared in 12 games for the Falcons, completing nearly 62 percent of his passes for 2,215 yards, seven touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Jets Give TE Baker Contract Extension

After a dispute that lasted several months, the Jets and tight end Chris Baker have finally come to terms on a contract extension, according to New York Post. Baker, who was scheduled to make $1.65 million this season, signed a three-year extension that will pay him $12.2 million over those three new years.

Burress Signs Two-Year Extension

The Giants agreed to a five-year, $35 million contract with Plaxico Burress, which is worth $11 million in the first year. "We always remained hopeful that it would get done before the season started," general manager Jerry Reese said. "It came down to the last few minutes and we're happy to get it done so we can move forward in our season. Plax is happy to get the contract done as well. It took a little longer than we expected it to take, but Plax was professional about it the whole time. We're excited and happy that it's over and we're ready to move forward into this new season." RealGM Note: Burress was 17th amongst all wide receivers in 2007 and 'deserved' to make $4.75 million, giving him a Reina Value of -3%.

Report: Ravens Sign QB Todd Bouman

The Ravens have reportedly signed free agent Todd Bouman to a one-year deal after working out a trio of quarterbacks on Monday, according to Baltimore Sun. They worked out Bouman, Joey Harrington, and Chris Simms. Baltimore has named rookie Joe Flacco their starter, with Troy Smith (tonsil infection) and Kyle Boller (shoulder) unable to take the field. Bouman, 36, has played for five NFL teams in his career.

Rudi Signs With Lions

Veteran running back Rudi Johnson apparently did not need long to find a new team, according to ESPN.com. Johnson signed a one-year deal with the Lions on Monday, just days after being released by the Bengals. "He looked fine," Detroit president Matt Millen said of Johnson after a workout this Sunday night. "Looked like him. Same feet. Same thick body. Same everything. Now we're kind of right in the middle of it."

Monday?s move came two days after O?Neal was released by Cincinnati, and cornerback Fernando Bryant, an exhibition-season starter, was released by the Patriots.

Chargers Sign TE Wilson, OL Forney

The San Diego Chargers announced Monday the signing of tight end Kris Wilson and offensive lineman Kynan Forney. To make room on the roster for the two veterans, the team released fullback Andrew Pinnock and placed center Cory Withrow on ?Reserve-Injured.? Withrow suffered a hamstring injury in Friday night?s preseason finale at San Francisco. Wilson was drafted by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2004 NFL draft following a standout career at the University of Pittsburgh. During his time in Kansas City, Wilson lined up at tight end, H-Back and was the club?s starting fullback for 11 games in 2006. Wilson signed with Philadelphia as a free agent this offseason but was released Saturday. In 49 career games, Wilson has caught 42 passes for 345 yards and four touchdowns.
