Struggling Titans Will Stick With Collins

Oct 25, 2014 6:10 PM

The Titans are winless, but coach Jeff Fisher says that quarterback Kerry Collins isn't to blame. "Kerry has been fine. He has been fine," Fisher told the Tennessean on Monday. "It is a tough defense to attack and he made some great throws. I thought he did a great job, as best he could, redirecting protections. "Kerry is not the reason. He is certainly not the reason for the situation we're in." Collins has been solid this season, but the Tennessean points out that he has been dreadful in the fourth quarter. He's a combined 8-of-24 for 77 yards with a 25.9 rating in the fourth through the season's first three games.

Givens Sues Titans For $25M

Oct 29, 2014 5:03 PM

Former receiver David Givens has filed a $25 million lawsuit against the Titans. Givens alleges that the team knowingly withheld medical information from him and encouraged him to play despite being advised that a knee condition could not withstand the rigors of NFL competition. He claims he should have been informed of the results of an examination by Dr. Tomas Byrd, an independent orthopedic surgeon who checked him before he signed a five-year contract in March 2006. Givens, 29, was a seventh-round pick out of Notre Dame in 2002 by the Patriots. He helped them to two Super Bowl championships before signing a $24 million, five-year contract with the Titans in March of 2006. That contract included a $6 million signing bonus and a roster bonus of $2 million in 2007. The Titans released him on Feb. 27, 2008.

Fisher To Titans: Stop Pointing Fingers

Nov 5, 2014 11:00 PM

Titans coach Jeff Fisher doesn't want the team to continue pointing fingers at one another. Tennessee was 13-3 last season, but is 0-2 through the first two weeks of 2009. "Let me set the record straight here: When you are a good football team and you start off the season (0-2) there is going to be frustration, OK? And the only way you get out of it is you avoid pointing fingers at anybody," Fisher told the Tennessean. "Everybody accepts the blame and you move on. There were adjustments made on the sideline for each and every thing that we saw. There was an adjustment made for that last big pass that they made, I heard it. The players alluding to the fact that we're having trouble making adjustments need to pay better attention to what is going on on the sideline." The Titans blew a 21-7 lead against the Texans on Sunday.

Titans, Cowboys, Bears In Play For Matt Jones

Oct 1, 2014 9:48 PM

Free agent wide receiver Matt Jones spoke with the Titans, Cowboys and Bears last week. Adam Schefter of ESPN writes that "Jones is better than some receivers on rosters now. But the fact that he remains unsigned is an indication that teams are being ultra-careful about the players they sign and the people they bring in."

Scaife: Harrison Took A Cheap Shot At Me

Oct 30, 2014 12:52 AM

Titans tight end Bo Scaife says that Steelers linebacker James Harrison took a cheap shot at him on Thursday night. Scaife suffered a knee injury in the third quarter, when he says Pittsburgh's defensive star took a shot at him. "He dove at my leg. It was a cheap shot," Scaife told the Tennessean. "I have been playing my whole life and no one has ever hit me like that. So I know when it is real and when it is not real. So it was a cheap shot and I don't care if that gets back to him either." Scaife didn't return to the game after leaving in the third, and was limping in the locker room after the opener. "It's not too bad," he said. "But you know you have to talk to Coach Fisher about that stuff, man."
