Collins: Titans' Passing Game Must Improve

Sep 24, 2014 10:00 PM

Titans quarterback Kerry Collins is looking for the team's passing attack to improve this coming season. "I thought we made good strides this off-season. Offensively, we built on things that we did well last year. We implemented some things that are going to help us and from a personnel standpoint we've gotten better. I'm excited about it," Collins told the Nashville City Paper. "I just think overall as far as the passing game, I'd like to be more productive, score more, and I'd like to throw more than 12 touchdowns. If we can just step it up a little bit and be more prolific from a passing standpoint. I think that should be a goal of ours." Tennessee ranked 26th in passing offense last season and leaned heavily on their rushing attack, which ranked 7th in the NFL.

Crumpler Takes Titans Rookie Under Wing

Sep 26, 2014 8:48 AM

Titans tight end Alge Crumpler has taken rookie Jared Cook under his wing in Tennessee. "Crump is like a coach," said Cook, a third-round draft pick out of South Carolina. "Crump has been around the league a long time and he just knows ? he has a lot of wisdom to share. Every time I come off the field he'll tell me little things, tell me things I need to correct, which is very helpful, especially in the meeting rooms and when we're watching film. "It's just great to have someone like that around, a big savvy guy who knows a lot and can teach you a lot. I learn something from him every day." Crumpler, 32, has been very willing to help someone that could take snaps any from him. "I let him know he can count on me ... I gave him my number and told him to call me any time if he had any questions. I won't steer you wrong," Crumpler said. "I got thrown in the fire pretty early. It was fun for me. I wanted to be in those situations and that's what I tell Jared ? you have to want to be in those situations and you have to want it bad. "They're not holding anything back for Jared here. They're throwing him in there."
