Seahawks Likely Without Both Starting Tackles In Week 2

Sep 14, 2023 7:50 AM

The Seattle Seahawks will likely be without both of their starting tackles on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

Seattle placed right tackle Abraham Lucas on injured reserve Wednesday because of the sore right knee that bothered him in training camp and sidelined him in the second half of the season opener.

Speaking before the move became official Pete Carroll said both Lucas and left tackle Charles Cross were "hurting" and that it would be a challenge for either to play Sunday.

Cross sprained his right big toe late in the third quarter of Week 1.

The Seahawks signed Jason Peters, 41, to their practice squad Tuesday.

They also added a pair of tackles to their 53-man roster Wednesday, signing Raiqwon O'Neal off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad and McClendon Curtis off the Las Vegas Raiders' practice squad.

Report: Seahawks Interested In Jason Peters

Sep 12, 2023 9:01 AM

The Seattle Seahawks lost starting tackles Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas to injuries in Week 1's loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

According to a report, the Seahawks will bring in free agent left tackle Jason Peters for a visit.

Peters turned 41 in January.

If he agrees to terms with Seattle, the plan is reportedly for Peters to start on the practice squad and eventually be promoted to the active roster.

Pete Carroll, DK Metcalf Have 'Serious' Talk About Penalties

Sep 12, 2023 8:57 AM

Pete Carroll met with DK Metcalf on Sunday night to discuss the wide receiver's latest costly penalty.

"We'll wait and see how that goes," Carroll said. "He was great talking about the end of the game and all that stuff. We had a great conversation, very serious, man-to-man down to it. He wants to be great and he wants to do everything he can to be great, and so we'll figure it out."

Metcalf was penalized for taunting late in the fourth quarter of the Seahawks' surprising 30-13 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

It was the eighth time in his career that he's been flagged for either taunting, unsportsmanlike conduct, unnecessary roughness or disqualification -- the most in the NFL since he debuted in 2019.

"DK and I talked for a long time last night about [how] that's not what we can allow to happen because that means that they can control him and get after him," Carroll said on his Seattle Sports 710-AM radio show Monday.

"So, he has to elevate above that. So it's a challenge. This is nothing new. DK's been an emotional, feisty, fiery player since the day he got here, and that is who he is. But he has to also manage that so they don't take advantage of it."
