Seahawks, Jason Myers Agree On Four-Year Extension

Jan 19, 2023 8:37 AM

The Seattle Seahawks have given Jason Myers a new four-year deal that ties the kicker to the team through the 2026 season, according to sources.

The contract is worth $21.1 million and includes incentives that bring its max value to $22.6 million. The kicker's deal was set to expire in March.

Myers, 31, becomes the second-highest paid player at the position behind Justin Tucker.

He made 34 of 37 field-goal attempts this season, including all six of his tries from at least 50 yards.

Geno Smith: 'I Want To Finish My Career In Seattle'

Jan 15, 2023 1:06 AM

Geno Smith was brilliant in the first half Saturday, completing nine of 10 attempts and throwing a pinpoint touchdown pass to DK Metcalf to give the Seahawks a one-point lead over the heavily favored 49ers.

He was shaky in the second half, committing two turnovers as the 49ers pulled away for a 41-23 victory in the wild-card.

Smith was emotional afterward, as he expressed his desire to remain with the Seahawks.  "I want to finish my career in Seattle," he said. "I want to be here. The town, the city, the team, Coach [Pete] Carroll, the organization -- they all embraced me. I was a guy who probably could have been out of the league. They embraced me, and I want to repay them for that."

Bobby Wagner On Seattle Return: They 'Gave Up' On Me

Jan 5, 2023 8:30 AM

As he prepares to return to Seattle to play his former team, Bobby Wagner admitted there would be "a lot of emotions" facing the Seahawks at Lumen Field on Sunday.

One of the reasons, he said, is that playing the Seahawks is "playing the organization that you felt gave up on you."

Wagner felt disrespected by the way the Seahawks handled his release in March.

The Los Angeles Rams linebacker remained upset even after Pete Carroll and John Schneider took public blame for their roles in the matter, saying a few weeks later that Wagner deserved better given everything he'd meant to the Seahawks during his decade in Seattle.

Arguably the best defensive player in Seahawks history, Wagner owns the franchise's all-time tackles record, and he made eight Pro Bowls and was named a first-team All-Pro six times.
