Eagles Will Wear Kelly Green Alternate Jerseys In 2023

Mar 29, 2023 9:08 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles will wear their throwback kelly green jerseys for at least one game this season, owner Jeffrey Lurie has confirmed.

The Eagles are also asking the NFL to allow two alternate helmets.

Last year, the NFL allowed players to wear alternate helmets as long as those helmets were fitted at the start of the season at the same time the players were assigned their regular helmets.

Eagles Hopeful Jalen Hurts' New Deal Will Be Done 'Relatively Soon'

Mar 28, 2023 8:38 AM

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman says the team is hopeful they'll sign Jalen Hurts to a contract extension "relatively soon."

Hurts, whom Roseman described as a "franchise quarterback" during his session with reporters, is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is scheduled to make just over $4 million in 2023.

The quarterback market could get reset further this offseason with Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson all eligible for new deals, though Roseman said they aren't letting those factors dictate their timing when it comes to getting something done with Hurts.

"I think you have to navigate the offseason understanding we're not going to lose our franchise quarterback with one year left on his deal," Roseman said.

"So whatever that means, it's going to mean 2024 is going to look different, we're not going to have a quarterback under a rookie deal. Not that we're talking about tags or anything like that, that's not our goal there, but we're going into it with our eyes open and understanding that we've got to kind of flip it (to have some younger, less expensive players on the roster)."

Eagles Re-Work Lane Johnson's Contract To Create Cap Space

Mar 24, 2023 8:57 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles are re-working Lane Johnson's contract by giving him a one-year, $33.445 million extension, according to a report.

The extension includes $30 million in guaranteed money. The right tackle is now under contract through the 2026 season.

Before the restructure, Johnson had a base salary of $14.1 million for 2023 and was scheduled to count for $24.1 million against the salary cap. The new deal undoubtedly lowers his cap hit for this season, creating needed space for the Eagles.

Seumalo is the second offensive lineman the Steelers have signed this offseason, joining Nate Herbig.

Both Herbig and Seumalo have ties to first-year Steelers assistant general manager Andy Weidl, who spent six seasons in the Philadelphia Eagles' front office, including three as the vice president of player personnel.

A left guard for most of his career, Seumalo switched to right guard for the 2022 season and offers the Steelers flexibility on the interior of the line.
