Garrard Unlikely To Survive Dolphins' Roster Cuts

Jul 14, 2014 11:00 AM

David Garrard isn't expected to survive cuts on Friday as the Miami Dolphins and the rest of the NFL get their rosters to the league maximum.

Garrard has not been able to jog or put any real pressure on his knee since having surgery three weeks ago.

Garrard was at the top of Miami's depth chart before the injury. First-round pick Ryan Tannehill is now the team's starter.

Ranking The NFL's Oldest, Youngest Starters By Team

Oct 31, 2014 2:22 PM

The Atlanta Falcons, San Diego Chargers and Baltimore Ravens have the three oldest collections of starters in the NFL.

The Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks and Cincinnati Bengals are the youngest.

Former Vikings head coach Bud Grant had a popular saying that "for every young guy you start, you lose a game."

Pete Carroll worked for Grant early in his coaching career, but has had one of the youngest teams in the NFL during his tenure with the Seahawks.

"I was of that mindset in classic fashion until I had to be in charge of calling all the shots and then it just flipped in me that we don't know where we're going unless we find these guys out," Carroll said. "One of the really exciting things about playing guys early is ... by the middle and to the end of the season, you’ve developed players that fit into your rotations now that add to your depth and also add to the opportunity to not over-play your older guys."

Below is a full list with the rank in offense/defense in parenthesis.

1. Atlanta Falcons (2/5)
2. San Diego Chargers (7/3)
3. Baltimore Ravens (1/15)

Dolphins' Plane Backs Into Another Aircraft Leaving Dallas

Oct 11, 2014 4:14 AM

The Miami Dolphins' plane backed into another plane on the runway when carrying the coaches and players back to South Florida following their Wednesday loss to the Cowboys.

The charter plane clipped wings with another American Airlines aircraft.

"It rocked the entire plane," broadcaster Joe Rose said on his sports radio show early Thursday morning. "It was totally crazy. I just couldn't believe it."

Rose also said HBO's "Hard Knocks" crew was on board and began filming the incident for the final episode, set to air next Tuesday.

The Dolphins were stranded for three hours until they could board a replacement plane.

The new plane landed at 7:30 AM.

Ryan Tannehill was 5-of-7 for 35 yards in his final preseason appearance as the Dolphins played the Cowboys.

Tannehill made safe throws and relied heavily on their running game.

Daniel Thomas gained 31 yards on five carries, showing that the strength of Miami's offense in 2012 will likely be on the ground.

Reggie Bush is the starting running back for the Dolphins.

Dansby Unsure Of Miami's Direction After Davis Trade

Sep 25, 2014 2:05 AM

The Dolphins traded Vontae Davis to the Colts on Sunday, a move that left some members of the team unsure of where they are headed.

Karlos Dansby, who also questioned the decision to release Chad Johnson earlier this month, wasn't a fan of the move.

"I'll leave that up to you all," Dansby said. "I don't know what the situation was or what occurred to cause the trade.

"He's a great player, one of the best corners in the game. I'm not sure about the direction of the team. That's not my place. My place is to play hard and be the leader of men."
