Tannehill MRI Shows No Structural Damage

Jul 3, 2014 5:12 PM

Ryan Tannehill's return from his knee injury is uncertain, but an MRI showed no structural damage.

The Miami Dolphins will start Matt Moore until Tannehill returns.

"The majority of my career, I've been a backup," Moore said. "I just prepare and know that the opportunity can come at any time. When you get in there, manage the game, don't turn the ball over, but at the same time take your shots and make big plays. That's just how I approach it."

San Francisco, Miami Finalists For Super Bowl L

Sep 30, 2014 6:50 AM

The San Francisco Bay Area will compete against South Florida to host Super Bowl L, with the loser set to big against Houston for the following year.

The location of both Super Bowls will be decided in May.

The next three Super Bowls will be played in New Orleans, New Jersey and Glendale, Ariz. respectively.

California hasn't hosted a Super Bowl since San Diego in 2004.

The new Santa Clara stadium will hold 68,500 seats but can expand to 75,000 seats for special events. The NFL requires at least 70,000 seats for a Super Bowl.

Dolphins Could Trade Depth At RB, QB

Aug 1, 2014 9:40 AM

The Miami Dolphins could be players in the trade market due to their depth at running back and quarterback.

The Dolphins have a surplus of running backs in Reggie Bush, Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller. Bush is entrenched as the starter, which could make one of the two young running backs expendable.

Matt Moore, meanwhile, has proven himself to be a serviceable quarterback and is behind Ryan Tannehill.

The Dolphins could look for a cornerback or a draft pick.

Tannehill Finding NFL 'Not That Complicated'

Aug 5, 2014 9:26 AM

Ryan Tannehill has played well to date for the Miami Dolphins, particularly when the pocket breaks down.

Tannehill has completed 64 percent of his passes over the past two games.

"It's not that complicated,'' said Tannehill. "I'm just getting more comfortable as the weeks go on. What I was happy about today was I was able to make some good checks at the line [audibles], and I like the fact we made good decisions.''

No Huddle Percentage Up To 14.6 Percent From 9.3 In 2011

Oct 29, 2014 1:00 AM

After four weeks of play, 14.6 percent of all snaps have been in no huddle, according to STATS.

Last year, only 9.3 percent of snaps were from no huddle, while the percentage was 7.1 in 2009.

The Dolphins have gone no huddle 61.8 percent of the time.

Next are the Ravens (54.2 percent), Broncos (45.6 percent), Patriots (32.8 percent), Packers (29.3 percent), Eagles (23.8 percent), Lions (20 percent), Chiefs 19.8 percent), Steelers (18.7 percent) and Falcons (18.5 percent).

“Normally when you are facing a no huddle offense as a defensive coach, it can shrink the volume you can have in your game plan,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said.
