GM Ireland Admits To Taylor Trade Talks

Oct 29, 2014 7:46 PM

Dolphins' General Manager Jeff Ireland finally admitted on Sunday that he had some discussions with teams in regard to the services of Jason Taylor, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. He reportedly had discussions with the Jacksonville Jaguars last week regarding Taylor. "We took some calls earlier in the week but, guys, nothing's changed on that," Ireland said Sunday night. "We did have discussions with the Jaguars, and again I'm not going to discuss what we discussed. Again, like I said, nothing's changed." Miami could still be looking to trade Taylor because they drafted two pass-rushing ends in the first three rounds of this weekend's NFL Draft (Philip Merling and Kendall Langford).

Miami: Henne Could Start As Rookie

Oct 29, 2014 7:46 PM

The Dolphins claim that second-round pick Chad Henne could start at quarterback for the team this season, according to NFL.com. "That's up to him," general manager Jeff Ireland said of Henne starting. "It's going to bring some competition to the position. It's going to be a good battle." He will compete with John Beck, a second-round pick in 2007, and recently-acquired veteran Josh McCown. "I don't know if I'll have the opportunity to step in right now," Henne said. "But I'll prepare like I'm going to compete for the starting job."

Taylor Remains In Miami For Now

Oct 29, 2014 7:46 PM

Jason Taylor is still a member of the Dolphins - for now, according to the Miami Herald. There were a flurry of trade rumors involving Taylor heading into the first two rounds of the NFL Draft on Saturday, but nothing happened as the league stormed through the first day of the annual selection process. In fact, the Dolphins didn't even field a call about the defender, according to GM Jeff Ireland. "Didn't get any calls," Ireland said. "There was no discussion." There was one internet report that had Taylor heading to Tampa Bay for numerous picks, but it was just a rumor. "I was not aware of it," Ireland said. "I was aware of it after the fact, but obviously it was strictly rumor." Bill Parcells claims that the only way Taylor won't play for the Dolphins next season is if he decides to retire.

Eagles Trade With Dolphins For RB Booker

Oct 28, 2014 8:55 AM

The Eagles traded with the Dolphins on Saturday to land a running back that they wanted in last year's draft, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. They landed Lorenzo Booker in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the draft, a selection that Miami will make on Sunday. "I was definitely shocked," Booker said. "I was just laughing about that. This is not even my draft, and here I am, on the phone again. It's just kind of funny when you think about it." "He's somebody we really liked in the draft last year, and we couldn't pull it off where we were able to get him last year, but he's somebody we've had our eyes on," Eagles' Coach Andy Reid said.

Chargers Claim QB Casey Bramlet Off Waivers From Miami

Oct 29, 2014 7:47 PM

The Chargers added depth at the quarterback position Friday when they claimed Casey Bramlet off waivers from the Miami Dolphins. Bramlet, 27, becomes the fourth quarterback on the roster, joining Philip Rivers, Billy Volek, and Charlie Whitehurst. Bramlet, 6-4, 230, holds multiple passing records at the University of Wyoming, where he teamed with Chargers' wide receiver Malcom Floyd. The Wheatland, Wyoming native originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2004 NFL Draft. He backed up Jon Kitna and Carson Palmer during his rookie season and then spent the spring of 2005 with the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europe. Bramlet returned to Cincinnati for training camp in 2005 but was released prior to the regular season. In January 2006, Bramlet signed with the Washington Redskins. He was waived by Washington at the end of training camp in 2006, but the club resigned him in January, 2007 and allocated him to NFL Europe for another season with the Sea Devils. Bramlet was named MVP of World Bowl XV after he led his club to the league title. After being waived by the Redskins at the end of training camp last summer, Bramlet joined the practice squad of the Atlanta Falcons and then spent two weeks as the club?s third quarterback. He was waived on September 19 and joined the Miami Dolphins? practice squad. Bramlet was elevated to the active roster and served as Miami?s third quarterback for the final two weeks of the 2007 regular season.
