Dallas Trades Ferguson To Miami

The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to trade nose tackle Jason Ferguson to the Miami Dolphins, according to the Star-Telegram. In exchange for Ferguson, the Cowboys will swap sixth-round picks with the Dolphins this April and have acquired Miami's sixth-round pick in 2009.

The quarterback situation in Miami has been one of the Dolphins' biggest weaknesses after the past several years. David Carr, drafted by the Texans with the first overall pick earlier this decade and released by the Panthers this week, has suffered through similar ups-and-downs. Could Carr be the answer for the Dolphins? Greg Cote of the Miami Herald seems to think so.

New York real estate developer Stephen Ross will acquire 50 percent of the Miami Dolphins and Dolphin Stadium from Wayne Huizenga, according to the Associated Press. "We don't need some old guy limping around here trying to run this franchise," Huizenga said. "I've been in this business 18 years now. Pretty soon it'll be 24, 25. It's time for someone else to take over." The NFL must approve the sale, which hovers around $1.1 billion.

After eleven seasons with the team the Miami Dolphins have released linebacker Zach Thomas, according to ESPN.com. "I have a tremendous appreciation and admiration not only for the Dolphins' organization but for the fans as well, for all of the support that they have given me," Thomas said in a statement on Thursday, during which he thanked owner Wayne Huizenga, Bill Parcells and General Manager Jeff Ireland. Thomas has accumulated more than 1,500 tackles in his career with the Dolphins.

Dolphins Hire Henning As O-Coordinator

The Associated Press reports that Dan Henning was hired Monday as the Dolphins' offensive coordinator, joining Head Coach Tony Sparano's staff more than a quarter-century after his first stint with the franchise. The 65-year-old Henning has coached in the NFL for 28 years, most recently as offensive coordinator in Carolina from 2002-06.
