New York real estate developer Stephen Ross will acquire 50 percent of the Miami Dolphins and Dolphin Stadium from Wayne Huizenga, according to the Associated Press. "We don't need some old guy limping around here trying to run this franchise," Huizenga said. "I've been in this business 18 years now. Pretty soon it'll be 24, 25. It's time for someone else to take over." The NFL must approve the sale, which hovers around $1.1 billion.

After eleven seasons with the team the Miami Dolphins have released linebacker Zach Thomas, according to ESPN.com. "I have a tremendous appreciation and admiration not only for the Dolphins' organization but for the fans as well, for all of the support that they have given me," Thomas said in a statement on Thursday, during which he thanked owner Wayne Huizenga, Bill Parcells and General Manager Jeff Ireland. Thomas has accumulated more than 1,500 tackles in his career with the Dolphins.

Former Miami Dolphins' wide receiver Marty Booker could return to the Chicago Bears this offseason, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "Of course, the Bears are at the top of my list," Booker told the Sun-Sentinel on Wednesday after being cut. "That's where I jump-started my career. I had some successful seasons in Chicago." "But, being unemployed, I'm willing to go wherever. If the right situation comes up, I'm on it."

Sources tell CBS4 Miami that Bill Parcells has reached out to Keyshawn Johnson indicating that he could have a job with the Dolphins if he decides to come out of retirement. Johnson joined ESPN as an analyst after he was waived by the Carolina Panthers.

Quarterback Trent Green was cut by the Miami Dolphins on Monday as they aim towards the future, according to the Associated Press. "This is never easy, especially since all of these players worked hard during their tenure here," general manager Jeff Ireland told the AP. Other notable cuts included wide receiver Marty Booker, tackle L.J. Shelton and defensive tackle Keith Traylor.

The Dolphins signed cornerback Joey Thomas on Friday, as reported by the Associated Press. Thomas was a third-round draft pick in 2004 by the Packers, where he spent his entire rookie season. He spent part of 2005 with the Saints and was with the Cowboys during training camp last season.
