Huizenga Wants To Sell Dolphins Before Obama Raises Tax

Jul 29, 2014 12:06 PM

Dolphins' owner Wayne Huizenga wants to sell the team in the near future to avoid a potential tax increase on capital gains, as has been proposed by candidate Barack Obama. "He wants to double the capital gains tax or almost double it," Huizenga said. "I'd rather give it to charity than to him." He sold 50 percent of the team earlier this year but wants to sell another 45 percent. "If you do it this year or you do it next year, the difference is humongous because of the taxes," Huizenga said.

Could Henne Start In Miami Soon?

Sep 14, 2014 7:36 AM

If the Dolphins lose their next two games - against the Bills and Broncos - some around the team believe that Chad Henne could take over at quarterback. Dolphins' offensive coordinator Dan Henning has spoken highly of Henne, saying that he is every bit as good as rookies Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan. Head coach Tony Sparano also showed a certain amount of confidence in Henne on Monday when he admitted he thought of inserting the rookie late into the Baltimore game.

Ronnie Brown Fined For TD Celebration

Jul 29, 2014 12:06 PM

Dolphins' running back Ronnie Brown has been fined for his end zone celebration against the Chargers last Sunday. After scoring on a 5-yard run out of the Wildcat formation, Brown and two of his offensive linemen gathered in the end zone and performed a line dance. The performance, which Brown admitted he and the line practiced during last Friday's walkthrough, violated the league's rules against group celebrations. "We were enjoying ourselves, having fun," said Brown.

Wildcat Formation Successful Again For Miami

Sep 14, 2014 7:35 AM

Miami ran the Wildcat formation 12 times against San Diego, and Ronnie Brown's winning five-yard touchdown run (Miami's final points in a 17-10 victory) came off it. The formation didn't produce the explosive plays Miami got in New England, but Tony Sparano will take 4.3 yards a clip, which is the per-rush average the Wildcat produced, on runs from Brown or Williams.

Porter Gets 4th Sack Against Patriots Almost 2 Weeks Later

Sep 14, 2014 7:36 AM

Joey Porter had been credited with three sacks in the 38-13 win over New England on Sept. 21, but Elias Sports Bureau determined a statistical change was in order after a review of a 4th quarter fumble. Matt Cassel originally was credited with a 1-yard run with 14:20 to play in the fourth quarter before Porter stripped the ball for a fumble. It was determined by Elias Sports Bureau that Porter forced the ball loose before Cassel reached the line of scrimmage, giving Porter a sack for no yards. "I feel like I got free sack," said Porter. "I earned it, but it came on my bye week so that's cool. I'm not going to complain about it."
