Steven Jackson isn't among those that believe the Rams are in dire need of another running back. "I think right now, while I'm still young and jubilant, that I still have the ability to carry this team and carry the load," Jackson told 101 ESPN St. Louis. "Basically, I know we would like to spread the responsibility of that to help lengthen my career, but right now, I think we have so many other needs that finding someone to spell me for five or six plays a game, I would rather let's go get some more help on the outside, some more skill players and some more guys on defense to help this team come along while I am still able to youthfully do my job at a high level."

Rams cornerback Ron Bartell and linebacker James Laurinaitis are in the process of setting up workouts to keep the team's defenders sharp during the labor dispute. "I'm actually coming back next Wednesday, the 20th," Laurinaitis told The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I'm going to drive back there (to St. Louis) and just kind of remain for a couple months. I've been in contact with Ron Bartell here and there about trying to get a lot of the defense around each other." Laurinaitis -- a former second-round pick who was the Rams' top rookie in 2009 -- has kept himself busy since early March with personal training in Columbus, Ohio.

LSU running back Stevan Ridley visited the Rams this week, according to a league source. Ridley had previously met with the Cowboys.

The Rams may be looking for a running back in this month's NFL Draft. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that Hawaii's Alex Green, LSU's Stevan Ridley and Kansas State's Daniel Thomas have been invited to make pre-draft visits to Rams Park on Tuesday and Wednesday. The team has long struggled to find a capable backup for Steven Jackson. They have the 14th overall pick.

Stan Kroenke is set to take control of Premier League club Arsenal and end the long-running uncertainty about the ownership, according to a supporters group. Kroenke plans to raise his holding from just under 30 percent to 62 percent, exceeding the 50 percent threshold that gives him legal control. He is also the owner of the NFL's St. Louis Rams.

The Rams have interest in wide receiver Sidney Rice should he become available in free agency, sources told Pro Football Weekly. Rice is currently a member of the Vikings. However, St. Louis is a worried about the hip injury that limited Rice during the 2010 season.
