Report: Rams Players Petition To Keep Haslett

Dec 15, 2014 7:32 PM

The Post-Dispatch, citing unnamed team sources, reported Sunday that the Rams' players have drafted a petition to owner Chip Rosenbloom, asking him to keep Jim Haslett as the team's coach. "He knows what we need on this team," a veteran player, speaking anonymously, said. "He knows the strengths and the weaknesses. He knows his players in and out. He's the right guy for the job." Haslett is 2-9 after replacing Scott Linehan following an 0-4 start. "It's out of our hands. They don't pay us to make decisions on head coaches. But it's good for [Haslett] to know that we've got his back. All 53 players may not agree with it, but I think the vast majority wants this to happen," the anonymous player continued.

Holt 'Disheartened' By Struggling Rams

Oct 1, 2014 9:57 PM

Rams' receiver Torry Holt has had a difficult time lately dealing with the immense struggles of the organization. "For a guy like myself who has been here for 10 years, it is really disheartening to see what has happened to this organization and where we are right now," Holt said. "It has been tough for me, especially these last three days." Last Sunday, St. Louis fell 34-10 to Arizona, who clinched a division title with the win. "We have three more weeks left, and sometimes you reflect on all that we have said and all that we had done at the beginning of the season," Holt said. "All the promise and everything that we had coming into the season, and you look at everything now in Week 13 with three weeks left, and you are a 2-11 football team. It can wear on you."

Rams' Jackson: I Have To Take Care Of Ball

Oct 7, 2014 9:44 PM

Rams' running back Steven Jackson admitted that he needs to take better care of the football after fumbling twice against the Cardinals on Sunday. "He'll tell me to keep my head up, but make sure that I take care of the ball," Jackson said of a phone conversation with his father on Sunday night. "That's what a running back has to do." Jackson lost both his fumbles in the third quarter against Arizona. "I was trying to make things happen. But that's still Football 101 for running backs: protect the ball," Jackson added. "I was fighting for extra yards, and the ball slipped out. There's really no excuse."

Jackson: I Have No Problem With Haslett

Oct 10, 2014 11:26 AM

Rams' running back Steven Jackson claims that he has no problem with coach Jim Haslett. Jackson's right thigh has been a hot topic since Oct. 19, and the running back took exception to Haslett's comments that he was "gassed" at the end of the team's loss to the Dolphins on Nov. 30. "No, I wasn't gassed. ... I wish he would stop saying that," Jackson said at the time. But there is no rift between the two. "We're fine," Haslett said Thursday. "There's no issues at all, nothing at all. He's a good guy, works hard, and we're just glad to have him back and ready to go." "I don't have a problem with Haslett," Jackson said.
