Blake Bortles Could Have Slid To Cardinals At No. 20

Oct 15, 2014 2:51 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars' decision to select Blake Bortles with the third overall pick was the biggest surprise of the first round.

Bortles likely wouldn't have been selected by the Minnesota Vikings at No. 8 or Tennessee Titans at No. 11. The Dallas Cowboys would have discussed Bortles with the 16th pick, but he could have easily fallen all the way to the Arizona Cardinals at No. 20.

At the very least the Jaguars could have traded down with the Buffalo Bills.

Jaguars Could Part Ways With Justin Blackmon

Oct 19, 2014 11:39 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars will consider parting ways with Justin Blackmon if and when he is reinstated by the NFL.

Blackmon is on an indefinite suspension by the NFL for repeated violations of the league's substance-abuse policy.

"I think we've kind of moved on for this year," said general manager Dave Caldwell, who said last week he doesn't expect Blackmon to play in 2014.

The Jaguars can't cut Blackmon at this point under NFL rules

The Jaguars selected receivers Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson in the second round.

Manziel's Camp Prefers Not To Be Selected By Jaguars, Texans

Oct 31, 2014 5:54 PM

Johnny Manziel prefers not to be selected third overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Manziel's family also would prefer if he doesn't end up with the Houston Texans in order to distance himself from his "Johnny Football" reputation.

The Jaguars and Texans are two teams in need of a quarterback.

Jaguars Not Counting On Having Justin Blackmon In 2014

Nov 8, 2014 4:23 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars are planning on not having Justin Blackmon play in 2014.

"It would be something that would be relatively surprising," general manager David Caldwell said. "Haven't gotten a whole lot of updates from the league [of] where he's at or from Justin, to be honest with you."

Gus Bradley has had minimal contact with Blackmon via text message but said it's been weeks since he's heard from him.

Blackmon was suspended indefinitely on Nov. 1, 2013, after his third violation of the league's substance-abuse policy.

Blackmon caught 29 passes for 415 yards and a touchdown in four games in 2013.
