Blake Bortles has been named starting quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jaguars are 0-3 to begin the 2014 season.

Bortles was originally supposed to sit out the entire season as an understudy to incumbent starter Chad Henne. 

Bortles finished 14 of 24 for 223 yards and two touchdowns in garbage time against the Indianapolis Colts. He also threw two interceptions. Bortles finished his first game with an 82.5 passer rating.

Cecil Shorts will miss the Jacksonville Jaguars' opening game of the 2014 season with tightness in his left hamstring.

Shorts had been listed as questionable on Friday but said he didn't think the injury was serious and was preparing as if he would play.

Shorts will have now missed 12 games since he was a fourth round selection by the Jagaurs in 2011.
