Browns Would Certainly Match Three-Year, $22M Offer Sheet To Alex Mack

Oct 29, 2014 9:50 AM

The Cleveland Browns would certainly match a reported three-year, $22 million offer sheet that Alex Mack is considering signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Signing for $22 million over three years would be the equivalent of the Browns giving Mack a total of $12 million guaranteed for 2015 and 2016, since they’re already on the hook for $10 million guaranteed in 2014 via the transition tag.

The source added that Mack would be better off signing the transition tender to collect $10 million in 2014 and then hit the open market next season.

“The Browns will match almost anything, that’s why [the Browns didn't use the] franchise tag,” the source said. “They hope some dumb team can sign him, they match and have him long term. . . . The only way to keep him long term is match someone else’s deal.”

Bradley Aware Of Perception Jaguars Building Seahawks' East

Sep 3, 2014 4:07 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed Chris Clemons and Red Bryant this offseason, two players that came from the Seattle Seahawks.

Gus Bradley is aware of the perception that the Jaguars could be building a defense in the image of the Seahawks.

"I think that could be a perception of it and I want to be careful of that," Bradley said. "But if they're good players ... If there's an opportunity for someone that if I have coached, or been a part of coaching, and they've given so much to me and helped our staff as a coaching staff, that in turn if I can have the opportunity to help them, I'm going to look into it. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, that's just how I am."

The Jaguars also had cornerback Walter Thurmond in for a visit, but he instead signed with the New York Giants.
