Peyton Gets $4,483 Check From Performance-Based Pay Program

The NFL has a performance-based pay program, which allots $3.25 million to each team, compensates players based on a comparison of their playing time and annual pay. Every player who stepped on the field for at least one play gets a check. Peyton Manning's check was for $4,483. Players at the bottom of the pay scale who played extensively receive larger checks. The largest checks from the Colts went to guard Charlie Johnson ($201,309), safeties Antoine Bethea ($195,706) and Melvin Bullitt ($186,432) and offensive lineman Jamey Richard ($181,596).
