Texans running back Arian Foster led the NFL in rushing last season while playing with a torn meniscus in his right knee. Foster kept the injury secret because he feared he'd lose his job. "My responsibility and my job is to make sure the people in the front office don't replace me, because every single day they're looking to replace me," Foster said. "And so I have to make sure I block with the best, run with the best and catch with the best. That's my job."

Leinart Hopes To Shed 'Bust' Label

Jul 11, 2014 7:52 AM

Matt Leinart, who will be a free agent once the NFL's labor issues are resolved, still believes he is an NFL quarterback despite five very disappointing seasons. Leinart, the former USC quarterback, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2004 and helped the Trojans to successive national championships, was the 10th overall pick by the Cardinals in 2006. "I've heard everything. I've seen everything," Leinart told 710 ESPN in Los Angeles. "For me, I haven't proven anything ... I haven't proven that I can play game in and game out. And I understand that. Now, I believe I can play and I'm not one to make excuses. I've never made an excuse in my time with Arizona. It just didn't work out for whatever reasons. "... You kind of look at the timeline of what's happened to me and ... having a pretty good rookie year and then the second year just getting the injury and then, you know, Kurt Warner, I mean Kurt Warner played himself into the Hall of Fame the last three years. There's not a lot I can do about that. I battled with a Hall of Famer two training camps in a row." The Cardinals cut Leinart in September just days before the start of the regular season. He signed with the Texans, but couldn't win the No. 2 slot from Dan Orlovsky behind starter Matt Schaub. "I thought Houston was a small and good stepping stone for me to get my career back on track and get a chance to compete somewhere and get that opportunity to start," Leinart said. "We'll see what happens. Your guess is as good as mine to see what happens, but I'm excited."

Burress Can See Playing For Eagles, Jets, Texans

Oct 28, 2014 1:20 PM

Plaxico Burress, who will be a free agent when the NFL's labor troubles are solved, can see playing for a few different teams. During an interview on The NFL Network, the wide receiver said he could see playing for the Eagles, Jets and Texans. "(Jets owner) Woody Johnson has been doing a great job running that organization," Burress said. "(Coach) Rex Ryan definitely has that team going in the right direction. They're definitely right on the cusp of, I think, going to a Super Bowl and eventually winning it." As for the Texans, the former Steelers and Giants receiver said: "When you say Houston, all I can say is 'Wow.' That's all I can say, because I give respect where respect is due. And I believe Andre Johnson is the best wide receiver in football. ... The way he's playing down in Houston, they're getting everything going in the right direction. "Matt Schaub has really taken off as an elite quarterback. I think Arian Foster is one of the top-five running backs in this league. I think that team is bound for the playoffs this year and looking forward to great things." During a call-in interview with Philadelphia radio station 97.5 The Fanatic, Burress gushed about the Eagles. "It's definitely attractive," he said. "I'm not going to sit here and say it's not. I mean I just look at the pieces to the puzzle that's already in place, and if I can just go out there and fill that void and just be that extra playmaker and go out and have a presence, have an impact, ya know, make the guys better around me, it's a great opportunity."
