Orlovsky Backed Teen Barred From CT Prom

Jul 4, 2014 6:42 AM

Texans reserve quarterback Dan Orlovsky issued public support for a Connecticut teen barred from his prom this past week. Shelton senior James Tate was barred from his prom, the school has since reversed the decision, because he posted a message outside his school asking another student to the dance. Orlovsky, who graduated from Shelton High School in 2001, also missed his last dance as a senior after he was suspended for faking an illness during class to go play basketball. "Yeah, I think it's ridiculously harsh," Orlovsky said. "I get school rules and lines and boundaries, but what's the alternative here? Reprimand the kid if you want, but to make an example out of him like this is taking a lot of the fun out of being a senior in high school. It's kind of comical."

Mario Williams Welcomes Move To LB

Jul 30, 2014 3:16 AM

Texans defender Mario Williams is welcoming a move to linebacker under the new system of coordinator Wade Phillips. "I think he's the rush guy we need," Phillips said. "You have to put him in the spot that gives him the best chance to rush the passer all the time and be your star rusher. "He's got the talent. With him standing up, he lines up a little wider, and he's coming every time on a different angle." Phillips helped Cowboys defender DeMarcus Wade become a force at the same position. "I'm very excited about this," Williams said. "I think it'll be a good change-up for our team -- not just for me, but overall because of the flexibility Wade will have with the way he'll be able to mix things up."

Texans Moving Mario Williams To LB

Feb 17, 2014 11:43 AM

Texans defender Mario Williams is in the process of making the move to linebacker. Houston's new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips sees a lot of linebacker DeMarcus Ware in Williams. Phillips coached Ware in Dallas. Williams has been a defensive end since he joined the Texans. "I think he's the rush guy we need," Phillips said of Williams. "You have to put him in the spot that gives him the best chance to rush the passer all the time and be your star rusher. "He's got the talent. With him standing up, he lines up a little wider, and he's coming every time on a different angle. This gives him the chance to be the premier rusher, just like DeMarcus."
