Ravens Optimistic About Offense In Year 2 Under Marc Trestman

Jun 27, 2016 4:26 PM

John Harbaugh believes the Baltimore Ravens have turned around their offense this offseason.

Marc Trestman is in his second season as offensive coordinator after being asked to continue the work of Gary Kubiak in Year 1.

Kubiak's scheme was kept in place to serve Joe Flacco, who thrived in the rollout-based attack in 2014.

"We're going to be in much better shape, in terms of building the system ... than we were the first year," Harbaugh said, per the team's official website. "Now the system is more (Trestman's) than it was last year. I think it's more ours than it was last year."

Eugene Monroe Believes Marijuana Advocacy Contributed To His Release

Jun 16, 2016 3:40 PM

The Baltimore Ravens released Eugene Monroe on Wednesday and the tackle believes his marijuana advocacy contributed to the decision.

The Ravens said his role in pushing for NFL players to be able to use marijuana didn't play a role, but made it clear that they didn't support his advocacy.

Monroe believes it very much played a role.

"I can't say for sure whether or not my stance on medical cannabis was the reason the Ravens released me," Monroe told the New York Times. "However, as I've said in the past, they have distanced themselves from me and made it clear that they do not support my advocacy."

Monroe was due a $6.5 million salary this season, he has a history of injuries and Baltimore selected offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley with the sixth overall pick in the draft.

Ravens Release Eugene Monroe

Jun 16, 2016 12:22 PM

The Baltimore Ravens have released Eugene Monroe.

The Ravens were attempting to find a trade of Monroe but were unable to get a deal done with the New York Giants.

Both the Giants and Seattle Seahawks could use depth at offensive tackle.

The move also helps Baltimore's cap situation, creating $6.5 million in space.

Monroe has advocated for the NFL to remove medicinal marijuana from their list of banned substances.

Ravens Sit Eugene Monroe While Seeking Out Trade

Jun 15, 2016 9:05 AM

The Baltimore Ravens are holding Eugene Monroe out of minicamp practices as they attempt to trade him.

John Harbaugh said "teams are inquiring" about Monroe, an eight-year veteran who's been the team's left tackle when healthy since they acquired him in a 2013 trade.

The Ravens drafted offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley in the first round, in part because Monroe has missed 15 games over the last two seasons due to injury.

Trent Richardson Still Dreams Of Hall Of Fame Enshrinement

Jun 9, 2016 7:57 AM

Trent Richardson has had unsuccessful stints with the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts and Oakland Raiders, but the running back still dreams of making the Hall of Fame.

Richardson, who is attempting to turn things around with the Baltimore Ravens, said he had too many distractions early in his career.

"As a person at that time, mentally (I) wasn't stable enough to play football, for any level," Richardson said. "My mindset wasn't right for it, I had too much going on outside of football. The football was always there, but everything that carried on outside the field, it carried onto the field. I couldn’t think about football all the time. Football became little to me at the time."

Richardson was the No. 3 overall pick in 2012 and the Colts later traded a first-round pick for him.

The story hasn't been a good one so far, but Richardson still has lofty goals.

"Putting on a yellow jacket," said Richardson, referring to making the Pro Football Hall of Fame. "People wrote him off, he came back and did some amazing things. He always had the pedigree. He just had to get back to the guy that we know."
