Ray Lewis: Ravens-Bengals Like Playoff Game

Sep 2, 2014 6:20 PM

The Ravens do not care that the Bengals can reach the playoffs with a victory Sunday. "It's about us, man. It's not about them," Ravens defensive end Cory Redding said. "We need to get this win so we can get what we're looking for: a bye week and home-field advantage." Baltimore can clinch a first-round bye with a win in Week 17. "This is a playoff game," Ray Lewis added. "The thing is, they're trying to get in and we're already in. We have to go finish what we started, what we've been working on the whole year. We know that we're playing for home-field advantage. We know how big that is, to come play in Baltimore. There is nothing else on our mind."

Terrell Suggs doesn't expect to play in this season's Pro Bowl. Instead, he plans on being a part of the Super Bowl with his Baltimore teammates. Seven members of the Ravens were named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster.

Harbaugh Brothers Share Info About Steelers

Sep 13, 2014 2:37 PM

With a game scheduled against the Steelers on Monday night, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh has spoken to Ravens head man John Harbaugh about his opposition. "We talked about (the Steelers)," Jim Harbaugh said of a conversation between the brothers this week. "We talked about last week's game, talked about this week's game as we often do." Since John Harbaugh became Ravens coach in 2008, he has faced the Steelers 10 times, including the playoffs. San Francisco could help Baltimore with a win. The Ravens and Steelers are both 10-3 atop the AFC North. John Harbaugh checked with a Ravens official before talking to his brother about the Steelers, just to make sure it is allowed. But such information sharing likely is common in the NFL, considering how many coaches have worked together. "Guys have tried it in the past, help each other out," said Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. "(John Harbaugh) might have what he thinks are tendencies in certain areas, probably more knowledge of the personnel than the schemes." Arians paused and grinned. "I'll tell (Jim Harbaugh) Mike Wallace is fast," Arians said.

Flacco: Ravens Don't Get Respect They Deserve

Oct 2, 2014 7:12 AM

The Ravens are in a four-way tie for the best record in the AFC at 10-3, but quarterback Joe Flacco doesn't believe they get the respect they deserve. "I just think we're disrespected as an organization when it comes to the media," Flacco told WNST-AM this week. Baltimore has knocked off Pittsburgh, also 10-3, twice this season in convincing fashion, and the Ravens have been one of the conference's consistently successful teams for over a decade. "We're not a very big market," he added, before clarifying: "The bottom line is we don't need a lot of help because we have a great fan base every week and we win football games. We're not a losing football team that needs to be out there in the media and be talked up like we are all-world. We are." Flacco appears baffled by the coverage of the Broncos this season, a team that's won two less games than the Ravens, albeit in spectacular fashion. "I mean, look at Tim Tebow," he said. "I like Tim, but you have a tendency to want to -- I don't want to see Tim do bad -- but look what happens after he wins a football game. If you watched SportsCenter today, it was Tim Tebow then something else, Tim Tebow then something else, and Tim Tebow then something else. When we beat the Steelers, were we on TV? No. I couldn't even find a Baltimore Ravens highlight. I think that's kinda the way it is around Baltimore. We don't always get our respect but you gotta deal with it and go out there every week and just win football games."

Billick Flirts With Idea Of Coaching Dolphins

Jun 12, 2014 6:24 AM

NFL Network analyst and former Ravens coach Brian Billick told the Miami Herald on Thursday that he would be interested in Miami's head-coaching vacancy if asked. "Yeah," he told the paper. "The Dolphins are a marquee franchise. But at the end of the day, it's the structure of what they put together. "It has to be a partnership between the head coach, general manager and ownership with a very specific vision. The Dolphins are probably a long way from formulating their plans." He said he doesn't know Miami general manager Jeff Ireland, "but they've done some good things there."

Ray Rice Hopes To Re-Sign With Ravens

Oct 20, 2014 8:02 PM

Ravens running back Ray Rice is playing under the final season of his rookie contract and is hopeful for a new deal. Rice is tied for fourth in the NFL with nine rushing touchdowns this season. He is fourth in total yards per game and seventh in rushing yards. He will have no shortage of suitors if he hits the open market, but the fourth-year back told the NFL Network on Wednesday that he "definitely" thinks he will remain in Baltimore after the 2011 season. "Our organization is a first-class organization," Rice said. "They've always did a good job of keeping their star players around and I think I'll be one of the guys that in the offseason -- or whenever it is. I figure if you take care of the game, the game will take care of you, and I'll be a Baltimore Raven next year."
