It's possible that the Ravens could use wide receiver Donte Stallworth to bolster their return game in 2010.
He hasn't returned a punt in a regular-season game since 2005 with the Saints.
May 2010 - Baltimore Ravens Wiretap
Clayton: Flacco Is Taking Charge
Ravens wide receiver Mark Clayton says that quarterback Joe Flacco has a new on-field attitude.
"Yeah, he was just more take-charge, first and foremost," Clayton said of the young quarterback following Baltimore's recent workouts. "He made a comment [on Tuesday] to one of the defensive dudes, and the manner he said it, it was a take-charge attitude."
Clayton added that Flacco might be headed for a big year.
"Any position, you come into the NFL physically gifted," Clayton said. "You've got that. But the mental part is -- by far -- where you make your most improvement in the NFL. ... I definitely see that in him."
Ravens Sign DBs Fisher, Jones
The Ravens signed veteran cornerback Travis Fisher and rookie safety Brad Jones on Monday.
Both players participated in Baltimore's full-team minicamp on a tryout basis two weeks ago.
Fisher is an eight-year veteran who has played in 90 NFL games.
Jones started in 13 games for the University of Cincinnati last year.
Troy Smith OK With Being Backup, For Now
Ravens quarterback Troy Smith is backing off his trade request a little bit.
Smith appears to be OK with being a backup in Baltimore, for now.
"My time will come. I love it here," he said.
Smith's then-agent, Ralph Cindrich, first requested a trade in December.
"There's two things you can't get back in this situation and that's your relationship you form with the guys and the bond can be unbreakable," Smith said.
"These guys are special to me and we're going to do great things."
Smith changed agents on March 23, switching to Neil Cornrich.
"I'm going into my fourth year and having an understanding a little more about what the league is about," Smith said. "Not to say that the Debartolo Group and Ralph Cindrich didn't do a great job. I'm moving forward."
Gaither To See Specialist, No Trade Imminent
Ravens offensive lineman Jared Gaither didn't practice this weekend because of toe and foot injuries.
Baltimore coach John Harbaugh said Gaither will get an MRI on Monday and see a specialist sometime this upcoming week.
"It's basically a foot and a toe," Harbaugh said. "He just couldn?t get through the first practice on Friday. He didn't finish the practice. I think it just kind of got worn out and sore and he didn't feel he could go the rest of the time. That's what he said and that's where it stands."
Gaither's name has been mentioned in trade rumors ever since Baltimore moved Michael Oher to left tackle.
According to the Sun, Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said that there is no trade offer worthy of serious consideration for Gaither.
Kindle Backs Off Rookie Of Year Prediction
Ravens rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle is backing off his original boast that he'll win the Rookie of the Year award this coming season.
He made the statement the day after Baltimore drafted him.
"When I said that, it was just an exciting moment for me, getting drafted. My head was in the clouds," Kindle said. "First of all, you've got to learn the playbook, get on the field and then perform well to get Rookie of the Year.
"It will be a good goal for me to set for myself to try to strive to, but I've got to take it one step at a time. So if you can copy, paste and delete that, that would be nice."
Ed Reed A Question Mark For Camp
Ravens safety Ed Reed may not be ready for training camp.
Baltimore coach John Harbaugh said Friday that a surgical procedure Reed had last week gives him "the best chance to get back for most of training camp."
Dr. Marc Philippon performed the surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip last week in Vail, Colo., according to sources.
The surgery might have been a last resort for Reed, who first suffered the injury Nov. 29 against the Steelers.
Ravens Shift Oher To 'Blind Side'
The Ravens are moving Michael Oher to left tackle, also known as "the blind side."
Oher's story was told in a book and movie called "The Blind Side." The movie starred actress Sandra Bullock.
He is working at left tackle at Ravens minicamp, which started Friday. Baltimore sees the move as a permanent one for the 2010 season.
Baltimore took Oher with their first-round pick in 2009.
Reed Expects To Play In 2010
Ed Reed is expected to play next season after recently having hip surgery that likely will keep him out of this weekend's minicamp, The Carroll County Times reported Wednesday, citing a league source.
Reed was considering retirement at age 31 following a season filled with neck, hip and groin injuries.
Ravens, Raiders Never Discussed Asomugha
Despite rumors to the contrary, the Ravens and Raiders never discussed a trade involving cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
Internet rumors claimed that Baltimore could send left tackle Jared Gaither to Oakland for Asomugha, but both Peter King of Sports Illustrated and the Baltimore Sun denied the rumors.
Asomugha is due $16.8 million in 2010, an obstacle in any deal.
