Kliff Kingsbury wants Kyler Murray's contract situation to be resolved before the Arizona Cardinals reunite for training camp next month.

"I'm praying before training camp," the coach said.

If Murray doesn't receive an extension or a new deal by then, Kingsbury cast some doubt on the quarterback reporting on the first day of training camp.

"I'm not sure," Kingsbury said of Murray showing up for camp without a new deal. "That'd be a Kyler question. But I, just personally -- I'm being selfish here -- would love for him to be there the first day of training camp."

Murray is set to earn $5.5 million this season and $29.7 million next year after his fifth-year option was picked up for 2023. 

Kyler Murray was back at the Arizona Cardinals' training facility Wednesday and was on the practice field for the first time during the team's voluntary offseason program.

Murray didn't attend Arizona's organized team activities last week.

Kliff Kingsbury said he didn't know if Murray would be in attendance for the rest of this week's organized team activities.

"It was good to have him. We've been in constant communication, so we'll just kind of take it one day at a time," Kingsbury said.

Murray didn't talk with reporters.

The Arizona Cardinals have signed Darrel Williams to a one-year contract.

Financial terms of the deal haven't been revealed. Williams will serve as a veteran backup to James Connor after Chase Edmonds left the Cardinals to sign a two-year, $12.1 million deal with the Miami Dolphins.

Williams was the leading rusher for the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2021 season while competing for carries with Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Derrick Gore and Jerick McKinnon.
