Patrick Peterson Leaves Agent Ahead Of Expected Extension Talks

Oct 31, 2014 6:27 AM

Patrick Peterson has fired his agent, Patrick Lawlor, two months before he is expected to begin discussing an extension with the Arizona Cardinals.

Peterson is widely expected to be made the NFL's highest-paid defensive player in the NFL, with as much as $50 million guaranteed.

Peterson was the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Lawlor took aim at the NFL Players Association on Tuesday night for what he believes is fostering an environment where Lawlor says agents consistently go outside the union's rules to convince a player to switch representation.

"Do I believe whoever signs [Peterson] offered him a financial inducement to sign him? Yes," Lawlor said. "Only time will tell. But that has been the trend that has been going on where these agents have been stealing clients from other agents by offering them 'marketing guarantees.' It's completely preposterous. It's gotten out of hand but the NFLPA totally disregards it. They don't see it as some type of inducement when it absolutely is. They say in their rules and regulations that you can't provide compensation to players to lure them in as clients, and yet it happens all the time."

Peterson is expected to sign with Joel Segal of Lagardere Unlimited.

Cardinals Want Andre Ellington To Get Approximately 20 Touches

Sep 3, 2014 9:38 PM

The Arizona Cardinals want Andre Ellington to get approximately 20 touches despite the return of Rashard Mendenhall to the starting lineup.

Ellington had just 17 touches in his 154-yard performance in Week 9.

The Cardinals don't believe Ellington is a between-the-tackles type of running back, but he is clearly their best playmaker at the position.

Fitzgerald Interested In Becoming TV Journalist After Retirement

Sep 3, 2014 9:39 PM

Larry Fitzgerald is interested in becoming a member of the media when his playing career is over.

Fitzgerald's father has been a sportswriter in Minneapolis since 1978.

“What Anderson Cooper does every day, I believe that’s incredibly fascinating,” Fitzgerald said, speaking at a promotional event Tuesday.

Fitzgerald spend a great deal of time each offseason traveling internationally, which has allowed him to form his own opinions on how certain situations are covered in the United States media.

“The more I’ve traveled and the more I’ve been around the world, you get a feel of what the Western media force-feeds you,” Fitzgerald said. “[When] you see it for yourself you can formulate your own opinion.”
