Commanders Place Carson Wentz On IL After Finger Surgery

Oct 22, 2022 1:29 PM

The Washington Commanders placed quarterback Carson Wentz on injured reserve, leaving him sidelined for at least four games and costing him a chance to face his former teams.

Wentz underwent surgery Monday to repair his fractured right ring finger. He hurt his finger while following through on a pass in the first half of a 12-7 win over the Chicago Bears on Oct. 13.

This also means Wentz won't play vs. his two former teams - Indianapolis on Oct. 30 and Nov. 14 at Philadelphia.

Attorney Worried NFL Leaked Client Names To Dan Snyder

Oct 18, 2022 3:48 PM

An attorney for four dozen former Washington Commanders employees raised "serious concern" in a letter to Roger Goodell that the NFL violated "a very specific promise" of confidentiality that was made to her clients before they testified to investigators about Dan Snyder and the team's toxic workplace culture.

Lisa Banks, the Washington, D.C., lawyer, cited an ESPN report last weekthat the Commanders' lawyers used NFL investigator Beth Wilkinson's inquiry as a "tip sheet" to compile an "enemies list" that was used by Snyder's law firm to commission private investigations and "harass" her clients, including former team cheerleaders and other former employees.

"If true, this was in clear violation of a very specific promise the NFL made to our clients, through Ms. Wilkinson and her team, that witness names would be kept confidential and not shared with Mr. Snyder or the Washington Commanders," Banks wrote in the letter to Goodell, which was cosigned by her law partner, Debra Katz, and obtained by ESPN.

Banks also threatened to sue the NFL. "If true, the 'tip sheet' allegation is not only morally reprehensible," Banks wrote, "but it also provides the basis for us to take legal action against the NFL, which we will do given the serious harm caused to our clients by their reliance on the NFL's promises."

Ron Rivera Strongly Denies Dan Snyder Made Carson Wentz Trade

Oct 14, 2022 8:55 AM

Ron Rivera strongly defended his role in the Washington Commanders acquiring Carson Wentz after the team's win over the Chicago Bears on Thursday night.

"I'm sorry, I'm done," Rivera said as he ended his press conference by walking off the podium.

In an ESPN story published Thursday, it was reported that Dan Snyder was the one who wanted Wentz. Washington landed Wentz in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts this past offseason.

"Everybody keeps saying I didn't want anything to do with Carson, well, bulls---," Rivera said. "I'm the f---ing guy that pulled out the sheets of paper, looked at the analytics, watched the tape when we were at Indianapolis, OK? And that's what pisses me off, 'cause the young man doesn't deserve to have that all the time."

Wentz later said he was unaware of the report, but, he said, he appreciated Rivera's passion.

"Coach Rivera, he's awesome," Wentz said. "I've got a ton of respect for him, playing in this league for a while from afar, and getting to play for him is even better. He speaks his mind and he'll be direct and to the point, and in this business that means a lot. Guys love that about him, and he's going to be straight up and very motivational. Guys respond to him very well. I'm appreciative of him."

Dan Snyder Threatening To 'Blow Up' NFL With 'Dirt' If Removed

Oct 13, 2022 8:21 AM

As Dan Snyder's ownership of the Washington Commanders has come under increasing scrutiny, he has reportedly told his inner circle that he has dirt on his fellow owners, coaches, executives he is prepared to use.

Snyder recently told a close associate that he has gathered enough secrets to "blow up" several NFL owners, the league office and even commissioner Roger Goodell.

"They can't f--- with me," he has said privately.

Snyder has previously instructed his law firms to hire private investigators to look into other owners, including Jerry Jones. One owner was told by Snyder directly that he "has dirt on Jerry Jones," a team source told ESPN, though the nature of the information was unclear.

"The NFL is a mafia," he recently told an associate. "All the owners hate each other."

"That's not true," one veteran owner says. "All the owners hate Dan."

League sources say the NFL is aware that Snyder has claimed to be tracking owners.

Several owners say that they see the threats about damaging dossiers as a desperate tactic intended to scare owners from voting to remove Snyder. "He's backed into a corner," says a veteran owner who says he's aware Snyder has gathered dirt on some owners. "He's behaving like a mad dog cornered."

At least 24 owners are required to force Snyder to sell his team, a fate that he has told multiple sources he will never accept.
