Buccaneers Not Considering Quarterback Change

Oct 14, 2019 3:42 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not currently considering a quarterback change.

Jameis Winston threw five interceptions on Sunday.

"No. I look at the reasons why. What happened?" said Bruce Arians. "If it happens again, yeah, it'll concern the hell out of me."

Arians feels Tampa Bay's protection contributed to Winston's struggles.

"I think when you get hit -- I don't care if you're Tom Brady -- when you get hit early in games, it's different," Arians said. "And we got him hit early in the game, excluding the first play. We got him hit too much early in the game."

Bruce Arians Wants Jameis Winston To Keep Playing 'Fearless'

Oct 1, 2019 3:15 PM

It may have taken a few weeks, but Jameis Winston is starting to look comfortable in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' new offense.

Winston threw for 385 yards, four touchdowns and one interception with a 120.5 passer rating on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.

"He is just growing in the offense," Bruce Arians said of the quarterback. "I don't know if anybody's played better the last three weeks than he has."

In the past three weeks, Winston has thrown eight touchdowns to just two interceptions, one of the best stretches of his career.

"You have to play fearless, and that's one of my biggest messages to Jameis," Arians said. "Throw it. Don't worry about it, just throw it."
