Two league sources said on Saturday night that the Denver Broncos could pursue Jeff Garcia in the free-agent market opens Friday. Steve Baker, the agent for Garcia, said Friday that if the two sides had not struck a deal before the free-agent period opened, the Eagles did not expect to re-sign his client. With veteran Jake Plummer expected to be released by the Broncos, they are in the market for a backup to second-year quarterback Jay Cutler, who started the final five games of his rookie season.

Stallworth Says He Wants To Stay In Philly

Oct 21, 2014 4:31 PM

The Eagles want to re-sign Donte Stallworth, but he might command more than what they will be able to afford on a salary cap level. "I love the Eagles and I love being there, and I'm hoping that we can get things worked out," Stallworth said during the taping, for a show that will be aired tonight. "There are some other interesting situations that I have on the table, but as far as being with the one team, I definitely want to be with the Eagles." Asked about other situations, Stallworth said: "There's New England, obviously being able to play in an organization like that, similar to the Eagles, who have definitely won a lot of games in the past. San Francisco, young and upcoming team, has a good young quarterback [Alex Smith], and Norv Turner is still the offensive coordinator there, that helps... And Miami, the GM there was a guy who drafted me in New Orleans, Randy Mueller, and we've always had a real good relationship. But as far as actually picking a team, Philly is definitely No. 1 right now."

The team said the leave of absence will last until mid-March. "He's not going to come into the office, but he will be available for calls and to collaborate and he will be here if we have free agents in for a visit," Eagles president Joe Banner said. A son of Eagles coach Andy Reid was accused of pulling a gun on another motorist, police records show. Police later seized a shotgun and containers with white powder or residue from Britt Reid's vehicle and a pistol from the home he shares with his parents.
