McNabb Lights Out As Eagles Win

Nov 22, 2014 9:24 PM

Donovan McNabb became the latest quarterback to shred Minnesota's woeful pass defense, helping Philadelphia coach Andy Reid get the better of longtime friend Brad Childress in their first head-to-head matchup. McNabb threw for 333 yards including a touchdown and showed plenty of the mobility he appeared to have lost after major knee surgery to lead the Philadelphia Eagles to a 23-16 victory over the Vikings on Sunday. The five-time Pro Bowler looked more like the guy who led the Eagles to the Super Bowl three years ago than the tentative veteran who had been hearing calls from those notoriously restless Philly fans to start the Kevin Kolb era. McNabb took advantage of the league's worst pass defense, completing 23 of 36 passes and moving around in the pocket like he never had surgery to get his Eagles (3-4) back on track.

Eagles Could Be Without Three Starters Sunday

Jun 3, 2014 6:12 PM

Eagles' starting right tackle Jon Runyan missed his third straight practice Friday and is questionable to make his 185th consecutive start Sunday against the Vikings. Runyan bruised his tailbone in a training room fall last week but played in Philadelphia's 19-16 loss to Chicago. He sat out practice this week and will be re-evaluated once the team arrives in Minnesota. The Eagles (2-4) also could be without both starting safeties. All-Pro Brian Dawkins, who hasn't played since sustaining a neck stinger in Week 2, is doubtful although he practiced the last two days. Safety Sean Considine hurt his ankle in practice Thursday but returned to the field Friday and is also questionable.

Eagles' Runyan Hurt Falling Off Training Table

Jun 3, 2014 6:13 PM

Eagles starting right tackle Jon Runyan sat out practice Friday after bruising his tailbone in a training room fall but believes he will make his 184th consecutive start Sunday against Chicago. Runyan, who was moving gingerly in the locker room Friday, said he slipped while getting into a tub following Thursday's practice and landed on the tub's edge. Asked how he felt Friday afternoon, Runyan said, "not good." "The most comfortable position is standing, put it that way," he said.

Westbrook Not Happy With Payback Agreement

Sep 8, 2014 2:22 PM

Instead of pay me or trade me, Brian Westbrook said Wednesday he just wants to get paid ? period. To recoup the $3 million bonus the Eagles errantly paid Westbrook last season, they?re deducting the money from his base pay. ?It would be the same thing as if you guys went out and wrote papers or whatever, and didn?t get a paycheck,? Westbrook said. ?You would be disappointed. It?s a situation that my agent and I are trying to get resolved. It hasn?t gotten resolved yet. By this time, I thought it would have been resolved.?

McNabb Likely To Remain In Philly Next Season

Jun 4, 2014 1:06 AM

If Donovan McNabb tried to force a trade in the offseason, the Eagles could not use the salary cap as an excuse. If the Eagles trade McNabb next off-season before June 1, he will count for $4.22 million against their 2008 salary cap. His 2008 salary will be $6.3 million. The Eagles signed McNabb to an extension in 2002 that essentially runs through 2010. As part of that deal, the Eagles paid him a $20.5 million signing bonus. And unless the Eagles completely unravel by February, the club is likely going to want to try to get more from McNabb for their investment.

Andy Reid Angered Over Resignation Rumors

Aug 15, 2014 5:02 AM

Andy Reid probably could decipher a restaurant menu written in hieroglyphics easier than he could an internet blog. But when both his present and future as head coach of the Eagles became a primary news topic last week, during which time questionable coaching decisions could be pointed to as factors in losses to Green Bay, Washington and the Giants, Reid seemingly was force-fed a much-needed refresher course in media relations. When an unsubstantiated blog entry from a Philadelphia publication somehow gained legs in the wake of the Eagles' abominable 16-3 loss to the Giants on Sept. 30, rumors that Reid would resign, possibly before the end of the 2007 season, began to fly. During a conversation with Fox Sports senior NFL writer Jay Glazer last week, Reid appeared to set the record straight. He then reiterated his intentions before yesterday's practice at the NovaCare Complex. "The only way I don't finish up coaching this year is if I die," Reid told Glazer. "Are you kidding me? I don't know where this story came from, (or) how it started, but it couldn't be any further from the truth. I am definitely not stepping away."
