Vermeil?s Story Goes Hollywood

Nov 12, 2014 3:12 AM

According to Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil, actor Greg Kinnear is set to play a young Vermeil in a yet-to-be named Disney movie about Vince Papale, a substitute teacher and part-time bartender who earned a job as a walk-on with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1976. ?He sort of became an image of our football team in the early years,? Vermeil said of Papale. ?Just hard-working kids busting their butts. They were making the ?Rocky? movie in Philadelphia (in ?76), and everyone sort of identified with him.? Vermeil has read the manuscript and described it as part true and part Hollywood.

Owens Speaks Out About McNabb Rift

Jul 7, 2014 7:14 PM

Now that his holdout seems to be over, Terrell Owens senses his relationship with quarterback Donavan McNabb remains troubled. "Who's to say? I don't really think that it's OK," Owens told the Philadelphia Daily News Wednesday, when asked the state of affairs between the wideout and the quarterback, whose partnership keyed the Eagles' drive to Super Bowl XXXIX. "I think he feels a certain way, from what I've seen and heard in the media. When I'm around him, he tries to downplay it, like everything's cool, but I don't know if it is . . . I'm an honest person. I'll say what I have to say."

It's A Miracle, Owens To Report To Camp

Nov 12, 2014 3:37 AM

Striking down rumors of a prolonged holdout, Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens has said he will be at the Eagles training camp. "I'll be there," Owens said. "I mean, the bottom line is that I still believe I deserve a new contract. But I'm not stupid. I'm not about to miss training camp, get fined every day and give them even more reasons to keep from paying me." Owens is still very open to a trade, however, the Eagles specified earlier that they would not be dealing their star receiver. Drew Rosenhaus, Owens' agent, said Friday he wants a fair deal for Owens. "We hope it's something we can work out with the Philadelphia Eagles," Rosenhaus said, adding he had talked recently with the Eagles. "If it's something we can work out with another team, that is not something we are opposed to.

Owens Would Welcome Playing For Atlanta

Aug 3, 2014 8:18 PM

As a war of words between Eagles president Joe Banner and Terrell Owens heats up, T.O. told CSS SportsNite in Atlanta on Thursday that he is willing to leave Philly if the team won't redo his contract, which still has six years remaining on a $49 million deal. "It doesn't bother me," Owens said about Banner's comments. "When it all boils down to it, I'm doing what's best for my family. Not to stir anything up, but I don't really have to play for the Eagles, to be honest. I can go play with any other team and still be productive. "If [Banner] feels that way, then get rid of me," he continued. "I have no gripes, no ill feelings toward any of the players on that team. This is business. They know how business is conducted. I've told them what I'm doing is for my family. If they can't understand that -- and if they feel like I'm a no-nonsense guy -- he wants to talk about Drew and I -- if we're problems then I feel like we can be adults about it. Trade me. Release me, and we can part ways like adults." Owens has a specific idea of where he'd like to be traded. "If Joe Banner can give Drew Rosenhaus permission to seek a trade," he told SportsNite, "who knows, Atlanta might be on the list of people that I could play for." Owens' comments came after Banner criticized the receiver and agent Drew Rosenhaus in the Philadelphia Daily News. "If we were dealing with somebody who was looking at this logically and was going to come to a common-sense conclusion, you'd say [he'll report to camp on time]," Banner told the Daily News. "But you're dealing with two people here who, frankly, don't think in common-sense terms. Anything can happen. They're not going to necessarily do what makes sense." Rosenhaus told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the odds of Owens reporting to training camp on time are "50-50." Owens himself told CSS SportsNite on Thursday that, despite the possible fines, he likely won't attend camp. The Daily News, citing a source in the NFL players' association with knowledge of Owens' contract, reported that the Eagles could fine T.O. five-sixths of the $2.25 million signing bonus Owens received after being traded last year, meaning Owens could be out $1.87 million.

T.O. 50-50 For Camp

Sep 17, 2014 1:23 PM

According to his agent Drew Rosenhaus, there us as equal of a chance of Terrell Owens not showing up for the Eagles training camp as there is for him reporting to the Eagles training camp a week from this Monday. "The odds are 50-50," Rosenhaus said. "We probably won't make any determination until the start of camp." Owens is one year into a seven-year, $48.724 million contract which paid him $9.17 million last year and will pay him $3.5 million this year. Owens is unhappy with his contract leaving many to ask, ?why did he sign it in the first place??
