Raiders Looking Into Why Players Didn't Wear Masks At Charity Event

Sep 30, 2020 8:20 AM

Mark Davis says the Las Vegas Raiders are looking into why several players were not wearing masks while attending a charity event held by Darren Waller that broke Nevada rules for the coronavirus pandemic and might have violated NFL regulations.

The Darren Waller Foundation held a fundraising event Monday at the DragonRidge Country Club in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson. Players were seen on video without masks at the indoor event while talking and mingling with guests, who also weren't wearing masks.

"Guys have to be more stringent in fighting the virus," Mark Davis said. "It's still our toughest opponent."

The city of Henderson fined the DragonRidge Country Club $2,000 on Tuesday for four violations of the Nevada governor's COVID-19 emergency directives, including people not wearing masks and having more than 50 people at the event.

Jon Gruden Likens Cam Newton To Power Forward

Sep 24, 2020 8:19 AM

Ahead of this weekend's game between the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots, Jon Gruden was asked about Cam Newton, who he met in 2011 as part of his QB Camp series for ESPN.

"I haven't seen many guys walk through my doors that look like Cam. I call him 'Slam.' Slam Newton. That was the nickname I gave him. He is a power forward playing quarterback," Gruden said.

The Raiders are 2-0 heading into the matchup with Newton's Patriots. He is 45-of-63 for 552 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, while adding 122 yards on 26 carries and four touchdowns in two games.

"Cam looks like he's the usual Cam. He's a threat to do a lot of different things," Gruden added.

Jon Gruden: I'd Take Darren Waller Over Any Tight End

Sep 23, 2020 8:45 AM

Darren Waller had 12 receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown on Monday night and Jon Gruden sees more performances like that in the future for the Las Vegas Raiders tight end.

Gruden says he'd take Waller over any other tight end in the NFL.

"Darren's a great player, our job is to try and get him the ball," Gruden said. "I'd take him over any tight end. I know [George] Kittle and [Travis] Kelce are as good as they get, but Waller is right up there with them. This is his second year playing the position. It's astonishing what this man can do."

Jon Gruden On Derek Carr: This Guy's A Great Quarterback

Sep 22, 2020 8:50 AM

Derek Carr has started the season with back-to-back strong performances, leading Jon Gruden to praise him following Monday night's win over the New Orleans Saints.

The Las Vegas Raiders quarterback passed for 282 yards and three touchdowns in Week 2.

"This guy's a great quarterback," Gruden said. "We're surrounding him with better players. And once our defense I think starts playing to their potential, he can even be better. He does so much with the ball and without the ball and behind the scenes that I think Raiders fans should really be proud of him, and I know I am."

The Raiders will face the New England Patriots in Week 3.

Sep 17, 2020 1:54 PM

The Las Vegas Raiders are a 60-year-old franchise relocating to a new city for the third time in their history and could struggle with a weak homefield advantage in one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.

While the Raiders will not allow fans in Allegiant Stadium throughout the 2020 season, Vivid Seats has attempted to project what the composition of the crowd would have looked like when they host the Saints under normal circumstances when they meet in Week 2.

Vivid Seats is projecting 25 percent of the crowd would have been Saints fans—which is a really big number for a visiting team.
