Jon Gruden: Raiders Are On 'Cutting Edge Of Beating The Virus'

Oct 27, 2020 9:14 AM

Jon Gruden is boasting that the Las Vegas Raiders are leading the NFL in beating the coronavirus.

"As an organization, we are on the cutting edge of beating the virus," Gruden claimed on Monday.

The coach's comments came a day after FOX Sports reported that the Raiders face significant fines and the potential loss of draft picks for their latest COVID-19 protocol breach.

"We're not the only team in the league, so you know, that's had people catch the virus," Gruden said.

Gruden is right, but the Raiders are the only team to have multiple and various issues.

Raiders Place Trent Brown On COVID List, Send O-Line Home

Oct 22, 2020 9:44 AM

The Las Vegas Raiders placed Trent Brown on the reserve/COVID-19 list and sent home their entire offensive line Wednesday due to contact tracing.

"I guess they were around Trent," Jon Gruden said. "I can't get into things any more than that. But hopefully we'll get some players back tomorrow, or for Sunday."

The Raiders will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night after having their bye in Week 6.

"How happy am I? I'm not happy," Gruden said. "I'm concerned. I'm really more concerned about Trent [and] his health than anything. This is COVID and I am concerned about anybody that has it or is near it."

10 Raiders Fined For Violating Virus Protocols At Charity Event

Oct 6, 2020 8:39 AM

Ten members of the Las Vegas Raiders have been fined for breaking coronavirus protocols at a public charity event hosted by Darren Waller's foundation last week.

The players were mask-less for most of the event, which raised money to help youths battling addiction.

"I'm well aware of that, yes," Jon Gruden said. "And I know our players are going to handle that individually and I know they regret any harm they may have caused, and they're very sensitive about it and we'll handle it the right way."

Besides Waller and Derek Carr, other players fined were backup quarterback Nate Peterman, tight ends Jason Witten, Foster Moreau and Derek Carrier, receivers Hunter Renfrow and Zay Jones, cornerback Nevin Lawson and practice squad center Erik Magnuson.

Derek Carr 'Sick Of Losing' After Second Straight Loss

Oct 5, 2020 9:24 AM

Derek Carr was frustrated after the Las Vegas Raiders dropped their second-straight game on Sunday afternoon.

"I'm sick of losing," said Carr, who became the team's all-time leader in touchdown passes in their 30-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The quarterback has a 41-57 record as a starter.

"I'm sick of losing," Carr said. "I'm sick of working as hard as I do, and as we do, and going out there and losing. I mean, it sucks. Enough is enough.

"The things that are hurting us in these close games is not them; it's us. That's the hard part to swallow."
