Eli: Injury Has Nothing To Do With Play

Jul 8, 2014 2:30 AM

Giants quarterback Eli Manning says that his injured foot has nothing to do with his mediocre play as of late. Manning is dealing with a stress reaction in his right foot. "In the games it doesn't bother me and I don't think about it. This is not something I am overly concerned with," Manning said. "It has been the same for probably the last three to four weeks, it's nothing new. I can go out and practice and do all I need to do." He doesn't think he'll eventually need surgery on the foot. "It's one of those things that time and rest is probably the biggest thing," Manning said. "Having the weekend and the bye week and off week helped some. Time to rest it is helpful. It is not something I think will linger or bother me."

Giants File Complaint Over Thanksgiving Schedule

Oct 31, 2014 3:44 PM

The Giants are unhappy that the NFL is sending them to Denver on Thanksgiving Night. The team's co-owner, John Mara, told the New York Daily News that it's a complete disadvantage for the team to play two time zones away on a short week. "It's not an ideal situation," said Mara, who filed a formal complaint with the league. "I don't mind playing on Thanksgiving," he added. "My complaint is sending us all the way to Denver on a short week."

Rivers Ranks Win Over Giants Up With Playoff Upset Of Colts

Nov 25, 2014 8:01 AM

The Chargers defeated the Giants 21-20 on Sunday in a game that Philip Rivers admitted was special. San Diego traded Eli Manning, taken with the first pick, to New York in exchange for Philip Rivers, the fourth pick, and selections that were used to take linebacker Shawne Merriman and kicker Nate Kaeding. "The draft thing, it didn't weigh into my process going in, but it is there," Rivers said. "Anytime you're playing a team with a quarterback that's won a Super Bowl, that's the caliber of player Eli is, it's fun. Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, it's fun to play against those great players." After connecting with Vincent Jackson on an 18-yard, game-winning touchdown with less than a minute left in the game, Rivers sprinted down the field in celebration. "Those authentic spazz-outs are the most fun," Rivers said. "This ranks up there, the playoff win in Indy [in 2008] and this one. It is a little special because you know that link's always going to be there."

Reese: Giants Aren't In Crisis

Sep 25, 2014 7:04 AM

The Giants have lost three consecutive games, but general manager Jerry Reese isn't overly concerned. "Sure, these last three games are a concern, but I believe it's a little too early to call it a crisis," he told the New York Times. After beginning the season 5-0, the Giants have struggled over the last month. Going back to last season, when they started 11-1, they have gone 6-7 over their last thirteen games. Giants coach Tom Coughlin is blaming fundamentals.

Jacobs Says He's 'Due' For 100-Yard Game

Jul 6, 2014 3:57 AM

Giants running back Brandon Jacobs says he's "due" for his first 100-yard game of the season. "Yeah, I tell you what, if anyone is due for one, it's definitely me," Jacobs told the Star Ledger after practice Thursday. Jacobs is averaging 68.8 rushing yards per game and has tallied 92 yards in two games in 2009. "I would have never even imagined; I wouldn't have even thought," Jacobs said of not eclipsing 100 yards. "If you had told me that at the beginning of the year, I would have totally buried you. It is what it is. I've been running hard; I've been doing the best I can. I've been taking what they've been giving me, and trying to make something out of it."
